The Official Guild Charter

A reference guide

The Bond in which we live by:

To protect the darkness and it's never-ending right to exist.

The Quest to which we serve:

To protect the Night and all of its mysteries within. To help our own and

others who uphold our laws and beliefs.

The Warriors of Hades are a guild that is closely bound by their brotherhood and beliefs. The guild is formed around the beliefs and actions of Neutral Evil. This is to ensure the survival of all. For true evil (chaotic) will destroy itself from within as Lawful Good would cause an anarchy and outbreak of evil. There is a medium for which the balance hangs, which we control.

Section 1 BASIC

---------------Introduction---------------

This document is no longer just a simple charter which states the outlines for membership within the Warriors of Hades guild. It has evolved into a more sophisticated source for referencing any questions, queries or concerns that you may have in the future. This is a large document and emphasis has been placed on Sections 1, 3 and 4 for anyone seeking active membership within WOH.

---------------A Brief History of WOH---------------

Deep within the bowls of the Abyss, the river Styx its only access, lies the home of the Warriors of Hades. The plane in which Hades was condemned to reside from his brother Zeus. After many centuries have passed, and the pursuit of other gods has prevailed in other lands, Hades was determined to again strengthen his holding in the Abyss. The Abyss is the root of all evil, known to many as Hell, the Underworld, etc, etc. When in fact they are part of the Abyss, creating their own separate planes of evil. Their power is derived from the beliefs of those outside of the Abyss, feeding the ruling gods with an energy from their souls. Gods weaken when their followers loose faith with them, causing them to be imprisoned by those whose followers are in strong belief. Realizing this, Hades sought after a realm within which he could flourish but would he would need the soul of one present within that world. Someone strong enough that would not fall to the power of the gift they would be given.

Relmus Savage was a lone mage who traveled with a band of individuals, but didn’t belong. Hades quickly found this wandering soul, he knew that this person would be the one to introduce HIS word unto this naked land. Taking on the form of a great serpent, Hades visited Relmus in his dreams. Caressing his soul in evil, making his blood boil, lusting at the power which this serpent was offering. Realizing that this was his call, his heart, life, and soul would be devoted to Hades. Following the dream, Relmus awoke to a figure in his chambers. Screaming in fear due to the presence of a god, he dropped to his knees. The figure approached Relmus and plunged its fist deep into his chest, removing his heart and throwing it on the floor behind him. Relmus’ old body fell limp to the floor as death consumed it. However, a soft green glow began to form around the removed heart. It was growing, receiving its power and energy directly from Hades himself. The entity took shape to reveal a man, a man who would begin to reveal to the land the might of the Serpent. That man was "Beast".

On a more official note, the Warriors of Hades were recognized as an official non-sanctioned guild on September 12, 1996, which we celebrate as the birth of WOH in the realm of Neverwinter Nights. A game that birthed many guilds present in the online realms today. Hades himself chose the original members that set forth the guild. They include Beast, Quin, Nefar, Unholy, and Warlok. With the destruction of Neverwinter Nights (homage to AOL for its demise) WOH was forced to either die with it (as many guilds had), or travel the realms in search for a new land. Several Campaigns have been forged and lost due to the release of newer games or the destruction of old. However many campaigns still strive to this day because of the brotherhood developed within the bonds of the Warriors of Hades.

---------------History of the Units within WOH---------------

The Warriors of Hades history and pride was founded within the land of Neverwinter. Many of the old ways have been changed due to the need to adapt to new surroundings and conditions. However, many of the Warriors of old hold onto the honor that was present in the ways of the past. Once before there were a might of units each known for their respective strengths and powers. With the demise of Neverwinter, these units were disbanded and separated unto a vast array of realms. It is to any of the Campaign Game Masters discretion if they wish to use the old units within their respective campaign or they may feel free to create newer units as they see fit.

The Death Knights

The Death Knights were responsible for the forward lines of battle. Their swordsmanship skills and brute strength had earned them a reputation and places of fear for all that opposed them.

The Dark Rangers

These warriors are chosen specifically for their deadly art in battle and their ability to conjure help from the earth. Their primary responsibilities involved the protection of the fortress.

Keepers of the Night

They were the warriors who trusted in true magic as their defense and attack. The Keepers were completely confident in their ability to alter time and space for their purposes. They were involved in the great wars where they stood in the last lines and eradicated their foes from afar. Keepers of the Night consisted of warriors who sole purpose is to master the arts of magic, Keepers rarely allowed any other class.

The Shadowlurkers

The Shadow Lurkers were an internal unit used primarily for its spying and information gathering techniques. The warriors of this unit were only be known by the High Council as to keep their identity completely secret in the event spies were present within our own ranks.

The Hadean

The Hadean were the elite of the Warriors of Hades. Their advanced their skills far past the proficient levels of most and mastered the art of administering death. They were the assassins for the High Council.

Section 2 GAME INFORMATION

---------------Active Campaigns---------------

Throughout the online realm community there are numerous platforms presently available for active campaigns. Some have been tested and tried. Many found unworthy or next too impossible to maintain an evil guild because of the design of the game. However some were found to be a very suitable home to the Warriors although most still longing for their place of origin.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns involving the Dark Sun Campaign, email either one

http://www.eq.com

EverQuest is the newest release unto the gaming community. It has taken the online world by storm some would say. Its vast world and incredible support given for guilds both evil and good has gotten gamers and guilds alike, uprooting their operations to move to this realm.

In order to play you must first purchase the EverQuest game pack from any local computer or software store. Purchasing the game entitles you to one free month however the pricing plans for EverQuest are as follows:

1 Month $9.89

Three Months $25.89

Six Months $49.89

Currently the Warriors of Hades reside upon the Cazic Thule Server but it is advised to create a character upon each server. This action guarantees you’ll retain your chosen name if the guild has to move to another server. Other Servers available:

Ralles Zek (PvP) Fennin Ro (RP) Tarrew Marr

Povar E’ci Solusk Ro

Mithaniel Marr Karrana Innoruuk

Bristle Bane Bertoxxulos Xegony

Veeshan Tunare The Rathe

The Campaign Game Master for the EQ branch of WOH is Zten. His assistant is the next in command, (TBA). If you have any questions, comments, or concerns involving the EQ campaign, email either one and they will be of help.

The Realm

http://www.realmserver.com

The Realm from Sierra is based upon the graphics from their wildly successful King’s Quest line of games. Although lacking the desired guild support and functions such as guides and staff supported quests/activities, The Realm is currently the best value in online gaming which is directly attributed to it’s cost. They offer a 1 month free trial, just download the software from their site. If the game suits your taste, contact Sierra and purchase their CD of the game that entitles you to 1 year of game play for only $49.95.

Currently the campaign is active in building a strong guild status. Such as EverQuest, the campaign in the Realm is in its infancy as well. Demise and Rashan are assuring the success of the guild with the devastation of those who cross their paths and the alliances of those realizing their inferiority. Upon entering the campaign, visit the Guild channel 665 (type /join 665) in order to speak to speak with your fellow brethren. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns involving the Realm campaign, send email to one of the following and they will be of help.

---------------In-active campaigns or future possibilities---------------

http://www.uo.com

Since the demise of Neverwinter Nights, many Warriors have tried time and time again to call Ultima Online their home. Several small attempts have been focused upon the Lake Superior and Sonoma servers. However, due to the game’s design and levels of difficulty in supporting an evil campaign...the game has been left by many guilds to those of the "Good" natured status. The game currently has the ability to support a high amount of players per server (10,000 reported). The servers are as follows:

Great Lakes Chesapeake Lake Superior Pacific

Napa Valley Sonoma Test Center Catskills

Abyss Atlantic Baja

Like EverQuest, the software for Ultima Online must be purchased from a local computer store. For a full installation, it requires 400+ MB on the hard drive. With purchase of the software ($29.99-49.99) you are entitled one month of game play. After the first month is over the only current billing plan is $9.99 per month or you can purchase game time from the computer software stores such as Babbage’s Software. If you are currently playing Ultima Online and have an interest in sponsoring a WOH campaign, refer to Section 2c.

http://www.forgottenworld.com

Forgotten World is a game that is currently being written, designed, and programmed for the old alumni of Neverwinter Nights. It is based along the same lines of graphics and rules however some of the programmers decided to use a little more time and effort and applied their knowledge towards a graphical upgrade. It is NOT an eye candy game like EverQuest or Ultima Online. Relying on the fact that they believe many of the players from Neverwinter will leave their current game once Forgotten World is made available, the developers have not made a steady, fast progression towards making the game available to the general public...not even for an alpha test. It is believed there will be a strong campaign present when and if the game is ever finished and made available to the public. If the game is ever made available to the public and you have an interest in sponsoring a WOH campaign, refer to Section 2c.

http://www.illusia.com

Illusia is yet another red headed stepchild, sort of speak, of the online gaming community. It has been in ALPHA testing for close to two years now. Because of its constant upgrading and changes to the programming, the perks of the game cannot be instituted into this document but its deficiencies are already well noted and documented due to the timeliness ALPHA test and the amount of promises made and broken. If completed, Illusia does show promise as a worthwhile online gaming community. If the game is ever made available to the public and you have an interest in sponsoring a WOH campaign, refer to Section 2c.

http://www.empyria.com

The Land of Empyria is another attempt at creating an online community, which has fallen to a forgettable status. Such as the previous two mentioned, many of the problems they faced plagues LoE as well. With the current games like EverQuest and Ultima Online, many speculate that the only productive product from the three following games will be their informative web sites. However, if the game is ever made available to the public and you have an interest in sponsoring a WOH campaign, refer to Section 2c

---------------Guidelines for Starting a WOH Campaign---------------

With the multitude of online communities present to date, there is the ability to spread the word of the Serpent both far and wide. Currently WOH has a strong foothold in the games such as The Realm, EverQuest *, and Dark Sun Online. This leaves such games as Ultima Online *, Meridian 59, MageStorm, and future communities such as Forgotten World, Illusia, Asheron’s Call and Land of Empyria available for the expansion of a WOH Campaign. If you are currently active within a certain game that has no active WOH campaign and have a good working knowledge of that game then you can email the Serpent’s Bishop (GM) with a request. The GM will in turn refer the request to the Council of Elders for approval. If approved, the Internal Affairs officer will notify you of the acceptance of your campaign petition. Upon reception of acceptance, you will have a one-month probation to setup the campaign. At month’s end, you are to present the CoE with the following for recognition and a Council of Elders seat:

  1. Campaign Charter
  2. A document that outlines the ranks, rules, and guidelines that are devised for that particular game outside of the already established WOH guidelines.

  3. Leadership Council
  4. Each campaign is required to have a minimum of 1 Campaign Game Master and 1 Assistant Campaign Game Master. You may change the names of those positions to one of a more colorful nature such as High Priest, Bishop’s Oracle, etc, etc and it must be documented within your charter under the rank or position section. Your campaign has no limits as to the positions you feel to be available on your council. Which means you can have as many council positions available as you like as well, you may have as many Assistant Campaign Game Masters but only one may attend and participate within the Council of Elders so choose that person wisely

  5. Campaign Roster
  6. Each campaign must have a current roster of ACTIVE participants, not those who claim to be in the game but those who are active only as well as new or possible recruits. Microsoft Excel software is the recommended choice in which program to use for the creation of the roster however whatever you have as a preference may also be used for example WORD, Notepad, Lotus, etc. The roster is to contain these required fields, Game Name, Title or Position, Email address, and ICQ or AOL Instant Messenger names for contact. When saving your work to send to the Historian, since Windows 95/98 can support long file names, use the following example outline of name/date. (Example RealmsRoster4-20-99.xls)

  7. Email String

The final requirement for the campaign is the complete email string for the game. This string is to be used for game related information and it is heavily advised to refrain from using the main guild string for Game related email. Instead of sending two separate documents to the Historian, it is recommended to go ahead and include the campaign string onto the documentation for the roster at month’s end.

* EverQuest and Ultima Online have multiple servers therefore allowing a separate campaign upon each server.

Section 3 LAWS

---------------The Laws and Regulations of the Guild---------------

*NOTE: This applies to all WOH as of 4/1/99. Any warriors that have dual-guild prior to this fall under the old charter rules.

---------------Active Participation---------------

Being a member of the Warriors of Hades requires more than just playing a game and or having a profile bearing the WOH tag. The Council of Elders and many others work extremely hard to ensure the success of the guild by devoting countless hours of their own time, money, and energy towards the guild. The only compensation that they wish to receive is the power and might the guild displays from their hard work. Power comes from knowledge and knowledge comes from organization. When we speak of active participation we are talking about the roster, database, email string, and guild meetings. You MUST have ICQ, AOL instant messenger or both for participation in the guild meetings.

Roster Under the discretion of the historian, they may choose to keep an updated roster from the collaborated efforts (a total guild roster) of the campaigns which shows the email addresses, ICQ, ranks, and games that each member of WOH is currently participating in. However, each campaign has a mandatory requirement to furnish monthly rosters to the Historian and the members of the game.

Database The database was started up by Quin in order to retain the records of those who have served under the Black and Green. Participation is MANDATORY however only certain information is required. Required information is to be sent to the Database Manager upon any character entering WOH as well as any name changes or any other official activities. All other fields present within the database are optional. The database is programmed using Microsoft Access 97’ and there is a version available for personal use to view. There is also work going into an easier to read version in Microsoft Excel. If interested in a copy you need to email the Historian, Historian Assistant, or Quin.

Required Optional

Name Game Real Name Real Picture

Email Date Joined/Quit Address

ICQ Recruited by Phone

Rank Character Picture Date of Birth

Email Email is our primary way of sending out or requesting important information from those within the guild. Participation on the primary guild string is MANDATORY. If you’ve asked to be removed from the main guild string, you in fact are asking to be removed from the guild. There are also strings dedicated to their respective campaigns and there is one setup for the CoE to use. There should be someone set aside in each campaign to control and update the string on a regular basis. An updated Campaign string is to be sent to the Historian on a weekly basis. Although the Warriors of Hades are an evil guild, proper conduct is stressed.

Etiquette The main guild string should NOT be used for chain letters nor shall it be given out to anyone for other than topics to be covered by WOH. IF the string is used for other than OFFICIAL questions, comments, or concerns you are required to place the something within the subject line stating such. Two Direct Violations of this policy will cause you to receive warnings. The Third violation will result in your automatic removal for the inability to follow guild policy. The need for 30 pieces of email with one or two lines of text directed at one individual is unnecessary. Direct those replies towards the proper recipients.

---------------Removal/Dismissal from WOH---------------

This is an area of discussion that is not favored but must be included. Upon joining the Warriors of Hades you become a pledge, someone that has shown interest and the calling to serve the Serpent. You are required to read the contents of the charter in order to understand the guild in which you are joining. You are to understand that the guidelines and regulations set forth within the charter is what forges our bond. If such a case is created within any specific campaign, the Campaign GM has the authority without council approval to remove such an individual. Upon this decision, you are given two options...leave and never return or petition the Council of Elders for permission to remain within the guild as either an in-active member or participate within another campaign. If the council approves your petition then you may remain WOH but again, you are not to participate with WOH in the campaign you were removed from. Failure to uphold that will result in immediate and permanent banishment. The members of the Council of Elders also retain this power and can dismiss someone from the guild for violations of the charter (the AGMS, not Elders). Once a decision is made in a campaign, only the CGM that issued the banishment can overturn it. Once a decision is made by a CoE member, it cannot be overturned.

Section 4 RANK

-------------The Ranking Structure for the Warriors of Hades-------------

The Warriors of Hades are organized into a series of positions and each position brings along another set of duties or responsibilities, which will be according to your rank. The ranks vary from game to game. Participants in any given game will follow that ranking structure while those outside the games will follow the rank given to them by the Council of Elders. Special note: It is much harder to gain rank and positions while not participating in any online campaign.

Oracle Oracle is the highest rank obtainable in the guild. However there is a ranking structure from within the positions which gives one seniority over another. Oracles are directly responsible for the training and leadership of the entire guild. In order to achieve the rank the Council of Elders must appoint you and a position must be available.

Positions:

    • Serpent’s Bishop
    • Internal Affairs
    • Oracle of Death
    • Ambassador
    • Elder
    • Campaign Game Masters

High Priests Once a Death Knight has gained control of their internal strife and their souls

(Officers of WOH) removed from their body; they are awarded the powers of the High Priest. They too are directly involved in the training of their troops. In order to achieve the rank the Council of Elders must call upon you and a position must be available.

Positions:

    • Assistant Campaign Game Masters
    • Historian
    • Webmasters

Death Knights Death Knights are the next generation WOH that are quick on the rise. They are the ones that will be leading the guild in the future so their primary duties involve assisting Oracles or High Priests with their assigned tasks. You are required to be actively involved in any campaign to be considered for promotion to High Priest.

Dark Lords Duties are very limited due to the various learning still ahead. Can be assigned as an apprentice to a higher-ranking officer at their discretion. Promotion is solely based upon participation in guild activities, role-playing, and the incentive to assist others in making the guild the best period.

Dark Squires/Pledges Pledges are those who are petitioning to join the Warriors. Upon the acceptance of their membership, they will be awarded the rank of Dark Squire. As a Squire their primary focus is campaign participation, visiting the websites, reading all official documentation, and active role-playing. After a two-month period probationary period, Dark Squires are automatically promoted to the rank of Dark Lord.

---------------Positions within the Guild and requirements---------------

This is a basic setup for the Warriors of Hades Guild chain of command structure.

  • Council of Elders (CoE)-

The Council of Elders acts as the governing body to the WOH guild as a whole. Its primary duty is to set the guidelines for the guild to follow and to assure the guilds survival by instituting the proper leadership within each respectable campaign. It is composed of those elected therefore they can as well be removed by majority vote. The Serpent’s Bishop sits as the council leader. The Internal Affairs officer will serve as an alternate. The chain of command is as follows:

Serpent’s Bishop (Guild Master)

--Internal Affairs

--Death Advisor

--Ambassador

--Campaign Game Masters (CGM)

*Assistant Campaign Game Master (1 allowed per game on CoE)

*Elders

*Historian

- Basic Campaign Command Structure –

Campaign Game Master (CGM)

--Assistant Campaign Game Master (ACGM)

*Recommended positions

Ambassador

Treasurer

Events

Death Advisor

*All ranks to be determined by CGM

Appointed Duties

Serpent’s Bishop Voice of the Serpent. Acts as a figurehead. Speaks for the guild

(Guild Master) when the guild is addressed as a whole, outside of specific realm activity. Acts as the Council Leader. Primary Duties involve Council of Elders, guild supervision, charter and policy upkeep.

Internal Affairs Handles the affairs of WOH between Realms. Coordinates relations between the Campaign Game Masters to ensure the guidelines of the council are being followed. Primary duty, ensure all charters and campaigns fall within guidelines. Alternate Council Leader.

Ambassador In charge of making and keeping relations with other guilds, whether friend or foe. Will also work closely with the Campaign Game Master’s of each realm to stay current with guild status within each realm. Primary Duty, Inform the council and members of other realms of the possibility of an alliance or war with another guild or party in ANY campaign on a monthly basis.

Oracle of Death Responsible for coordinating with all Campaign Game Masters for retaining all current information on the proclaimed allies and enemies of WOH. Primary duties involve the absolute responsibility for the overall training of Player vs. Player combat. In times of War, the Oracle of Death is temporarily promoted to Co-GM until the conflict is resolved.

Campaign Game Masters The Campaign Game Master (CGM) is directly in charge of the guild within a specific realm and the leadership of the Guild therein. Primary duties are making sure that their campaign is following the standards that the CoE has set forth. Make sure that an updated roster or email string is submitted (MONTHLY) to the historian for record keeping purposes.

Assist Campaign GMs Each CGM has the option of bringing one of their chosen Assistants with them during the session of council. The Assistant Campaign Game Master (ACGM) is responsible to be the right hand individual for the CGM. Notes, messages, status of the guild are all expected to be taken down by this individual to be presented to their respective members.

**Special Positions on CoE Because of the extreme devotion and hard work, these positions are rewarded with their own voice on the CoE if approved.

Historian Responsible for the Roster, Guild e-mail string, and database. Update to the changes within the Warriors of Hades. Responsible for the precise care of records now kept to document the growth and destruction caused by Hades’ minions. (Database is built around the Microsoft Access software. Proper training will take place prior to handling the database.)

*Historian may appoint an assistant under CoE approval

Elders The title of Elders is one of respect. However, there is no specific position held. These Warriors are ones whom have once held great positions of power within the Guild but have stepped down to let others proceed in their footsteps. They are called upon for their knowledge and wisdom and if needed, to help others on the CoE with the performance of their duties. Elder positions are only available to those who have held one of the higher positions and they may waive their seats on the CoE if desired. If an Elder steps down from their position, there will be no replacement; they cannot serve again until they hold a position available

CoE Requirements: All positions upon the CoE are voted in only. All members of the CoE must be highly active within the guild (in a game is a requirement). If any member of the CoE is not believed to be doing an adequate job, a letter must be submitted to the Internal Affairs officer to be addressed and researched unless the problem lies with the IA officer then the letter will be submitted to the Serpent’s Bishop. If the charges are valid, then they will deem whether a CoE or guild wide vote for replacement will be used. If an Elder steps down from their position, there will be no replacement. These are positions of honor on the council...rewards for their service within the guild.

Basic Campaign Structure

Campaign Game Masters CGMs are those elected to represent WOH in a campaign started within an online game. They are running a mini-guild which follows the basic laws that have been set forth by the CoE. They are responsible for setting up a charter...a set of guidelines based upon those present in this reference guide as well as the specifics that must be included for differences between the Online games. Freedom to choose a rank structure is given with the exception of one required Assistant Campaign Game Master (ACGM)

Requirements for position: If there is no current campaign present in the proposed game, You may submit a letter to the CoE for approval. Once approved, you are then nominated for a position upon the CoE. After 1 month, depending on the submission of the game requirements (charter, roster, & email string), your nomination will be approved for the CoE. If there is a campaign already present and the CGM is not believed to be doing an adequate job, a letter must be submitted to Internal Affairs on the CoE to be addressed. Then he will set up a campaign vote for replacement.

Assistant GMs The ACGMs purpose is to help build, maintain, and train the warriors of their selected campaign. Handle problems that may arise within the ranks and devote their energy to assisting the CGM in the preparation of required documents such as the campaign’s charter, roster, e-mail string, and history. Special events or activities that have been gained, accomplished through the campaign should also be included within the monthly reports given to the Guild historian.

Requirements for position: The CGM must elect at least one ACGM to work along side them to assure the efforts to construct a successful campaign are distributed for best and most effective results. After the primary ACGM is selected, it is up to the CGM if he wishes to have any other positions available and the requirements are set by the CGM.
