Born in the town of Nibulheim, he has always wanted to become "powerful" since his childhood and considered Sephiroth to be his hero. This has motivated him to become a Soldier, Shinra Company's Public Maintenance and Order Force, when he was 14 years of age. He was very skillful in battle and was later promoted to Soldier First Class. Five years ago, he declines his position and becomes a mercenary. His current sponsor is the anti-Shinra organization Avalanche. The incident in Nibulheim five years ago was triggered his sudden change of occupation from a Soldier to a mercenary, but he has no recollection of this incident due to partial amnesia. To recover his memory from five years ago, he is in search of Sephiroth. Once a figure he admired, Sephiroth has now become of great importance, who most probably holds the key to his lost memory. Possibly because of his background as a Soldier, he prefers to make use of anything in the most convenient manner regardless of its actual potentials(that is probably why he said he didn't care about the Makou reactor when Barett told him about its actual potentials) and does not hold interest in small, trivial matters.

Limit Attacks

Level 1

  • Braver - jumps high up in the air and stikes the enemy upon landing, doing 2x damage
  • kyougiri or Cross slash - slashes the kanji character kyou (which means ill luck, misfortune, or evil) onto the enemy, hitting it once and numbing it.

    Level 2

  • hakougeki - an invisible force called ki strikes upon one enemy and upon impact, damages the remaining enemies, but not as much.
  • Climb Hazard - puts his sword sideways, stabs the enemy first and continues with an upward slash.

    Level 3

  • Meteo Rain - Cloud twirls his sword and jumps up, making 5 meteors, the last one deals the most damage.
  • garyutensei - creates a tornado, sending them up to heaven and if they come back, fall down for more damage.

    Level 4


  • Omnislash - Cloud's ultimate limit break, a total of 15 multicolored slashes with one final atomic blow that is capable of defeating bosses.
