Final Fantasy 3

Final Fantasy 3 took almost all that was good and pure from Final Fantasy 2 and improved on it. It had increadable graphics, complex plot and a whole lot of hours of sweet, sweet game play. It also featured quite possibly the best villian in RPG games to date: Kefka.  The biggest flaw would have to be the insane power that you obtained later in the game that made it not all together very difficult to completely obliterate anything in your way.  But, hey, some people are into that sort of thing.

Graphics: /10 9 It featured lots colours and great character animation
Characters: /10 8 The charcters were original, but there were a few flaws.... read on, good surfer, read on.
Plot: /20 18 I can't say much without spoiling it, but it was definitley........uh..........original!
Music: /10 9 A huge score of music perfectly set the mood for every situation.  There just wasn't quite enough of it.
Other: /10 8 It had a lot of secrets and side quests.  It had a great replay value, too.  But there was that Esper thing....
Overal: /20 18 A great game.  The "pros" completely eclipsed the "cons".

TOTAL:  70/80

PLOT:  Final Fantasy 3 probably had the best story line of the entire series.  It had love, hate, humour, tragedy, even an opera.  The main concept is this:  An ancient war left the world dormant of magic, and now technology reigns supreme.  The game starts with you in control of a young woman, Terra,  being controlled by the Empire as they investigate the sighting of an Esper, a beast made of pure magic energy.  As the story unfolds, Terra joins up with the Returners, a group of rebels who are trying to stop the Empire from using magic and recreating the war that had destroyed the land years ago.

CHARACTERS:  The game had a total of 14 characters that could join you, although two of them were hidden.  Each one had their own personality and combat value, although it wasn't very balanced.  Some characrters were better than others.  Once you got Espers, magic was just plain better than most of the character's special powers.  Still, it had a lot of variey to it.

OTHER
The game introduced a lot of new powers that made each character different, like tools and Blitzs, but, like I said before, the Espers just took over.  Any character could use any spell and there was virtually no limit to the power you could obtain.  I think that kind of weakens the game.

OVERAL: The level of power was not balanced in this game, but despite the imbalance in power, the game never lost sight of its true goal: FUN!  It was simply a really fun game to play.  Sounds simple enough, but very few games manage to achieve that.
