Mirriormane is a rarity in a world in which dragons are already rare. His father is unknown to him as his mother was killed by the lich of the salt marsh when he was just a hatchling. Of his birthing clutch he is the only survivor. When he emerged into the world he had 5 other clutch mates, all of them died either within the first few days or shortly thereafter. Only he survived, this he did by leaving the birthing lair. Soon after discovering a small tribe of kobolds upon which to feed. It was this tribe that sustained him during this difficult time.

Years later he was captured by a band of Yaun-ti patrolling the area and forced to do their bidding for almost a decade. It was during this time that he discovered his magical abilities. After stealing all the magic that the Yaun-ti had Mirriormane escaped. He lived for many years building his magical skills to the point where he is almost the equal of any dragon his age.

He later repaid the Yaun-ti band. Thus was done in two steps first he led a small group of adventures into their area during a time of feasting and holy days for the snakemen. After the fighting had stopped, but before the Yuan-ti could regroup, he killed the abomination leading the group. This insured him a place as the new chief of the band. Only he used his position to order the band to attack other Yuan-ti tribes in the area. Eventually this decimated the band to where only about a dozen purebloods were left. These he slew out of hand. Later he took the tribes territory as his own and began a war with the snakemen that neither side could win.

Close to one hundred years ago he stopped the war, at least he no longer went looking for any Yaun-ti, and turned his efforts towards clearing his territory of any pests, as he calls the humanoid races. To this end his efforts have been very successful. The only humanoids he will allow to live in the swamp are the lizard men and the kobolds, the later because they sustained him in his youth, it also seems he has a taste for kobold flesh. And the former because they were the only beings in the marsh that have as great a hatred for the Yaun-ti as great as his. Human, dwarves, and gnomes he will talk to first before killing them. As he considers adventurers a threat him and his swamp, but at the same time he knows that they can be both a source of magic and knowledge.

In combat Mirriormane will use his spells, magical abilites, and breath weapon before closing to attack. His first targets will be any spell casters, then he will concentrate upon the fighters. When engaged in melee he will commonly fan the waters about him to make all spellcasting and missiles useless. If clearly outnumbered or if his hp drop below 20 Mirriormane will withdrawal from battle, follow his adversaries, and attack from a distance, usually when the party is resting or bedding down for the night. He uses all spells and abilities as a 17th level wizard.

*Burning Claws is a varaint of the first level wizard spell burning hands.
