STAR'S END SPECIAL FEATURE

page 1

As part of the story Sanctuary, we meet a strange group of people.

Dr. Soul and his family.

An eccentric old man comes to Star's End.

He seeks asylum and a peaceful place to live out his twilight years.

He is a retired scientist and engineer who has different ideas and morals than those of the Federation.

He comes to Star's End to escape the world; but he brings with him scientific marvels and wonders, which he gladly offers to share with the people of Star's End.

He also offers to give his ship (a very large cargo vessel) to the people of Star's End as his price for admission.

He wishes to build a "retirement home" on the other side of the planet where he will live out the remainder of his life "in peace".

We soon learn of the Doctors secret and his field of expertise.

He is a cybernetic engineer (he builds robots).

He has brought with him his "staff ".

The federation has ideas for them.

Dr. Soul disagrees with the philosophy of the Federation.

He believes his people are "alive ", they have a soul and were developed to serve mankind.

The federation disagrees with both concepts; they have been pressuring Dr. Soul and his fellow engineers to develop his concepts for military purposes.

So, the good doctor is on the run.
Will the people of Star's End accept him?
Will the people of Star's End accept his "people"?
Soon our people on Star's End learn another twist about the Doctor.
His "staff" is female
This is a moral issue, what is life ?
Can it be created ? Can it be owned?
