Magic Axiom: 12 | Tech Axiom: 26 |
Spirit Axiom: 17 | Social Axiom: 20 |
Tharkold is a terrible and terrifying reality. It is inhabited by beings with the visage of demons, though altered and enhanced by cyberware and body mutilation. They are in a constant state of war with the other denizens of their reality, the Race - humans hardened by decades of strife. Their home reality as bleak and barren from the ongoing combat. The techno-demons are ruthless and cruel, enjoying pain and torture more than death. The structure of the cosm is based on dominance, with demons pledging allegiance to those who defeat them in combat
Oddly enough, Tharkold is now ruled by a female human (Race) soldier, Jezrael, who defeated the reigning Techno-Demon High Lord in combat, with the support of the cosm's Darkness Device.
Tharkold's social axiom is not as high as one would expect of a high tech cosm. Techno demons are not concerned with advancement of society, so all of the advances have come from the Race. The violent nature of all social interactions, both between races and between members of the same race, kep the society from advancing much farther than its present level.
Although the spirit axiom is rather high (17), the Tharkoldu do not make use of the spiritual nature of their reality, leaning rather toward using technology to solve their problems. The one important miraculous event is reproduction, which requires a miracle in order to occur.
The technology of the realm is well beyond that of Earth. It pervades all of their society. In a way similar to the Cyberpapacy, the Tharkoldu make use of cyberware, virtual reality, powered armor, and laser weapons. They have also intertwined technology with magic. Most technological advances are somhow related to the war effort.
The Tharkoldu reality rewards violence, both in combat and in social interactions. In combat, making all-out attacks allows the attackers to resist some damage. Intimidation and taunts in combat are more likely to succeed, as well. In social scenarios, the social axiom drops from 20 to 11 in any non-war interactions. Thus, simple economic and social transactions are hampered if there is no violence.
The Law of PainIn the spirit of violence, the reality promotes violence which causes pain and suffering. Those who inflict pain on others find it easier to turn their attacks toward others. Those who have pain inflicted on them find it easier to seek retribution against those who hurt them. With this Law in effect, the Tharkoldu have developed pain weapons, which cause no permanent damage but create excruciating pain.
Law of DominationThis Law governs the acts of submission and surrender in Tharkold. Those who submit to another character or to a technodemon find it difficult to harm their master, but are also aided in the act of protecting their master. The act of submission is what governs the social and governmental structure of the realm. High ranking Tharkoldu have large groups of demons submissive to them, who in turn may have demons submissive to them, and so on.
