The Alcarondas - Main Deck
The first rays of the rising sun touch gently the waves of the Bay of Edhellond, rising up the fresh new vapours of the salty air. Everything in sight is bathed in the bright colors of dawn.

Dimly shines the light of the moon upon the Main Deck of the Alcarondas, mighty ship of war. As night has fallen, the deck is mostly deserted except for those sentries and stearsmen who guide her, and the light of many lanterns serves to banish the dark of night. The wood of which this ship has been crafted has been stained a light shade of brown, and the immaculate cleaniness of the planking gives testiment to the time and care given to this vessel. In places here and there one may lay sight of various piles of rope and binding coiled in an orderly fashion and spare sails folded neatly and set aside should they be called for, and yet despite the many obstacles which may hinder the deck, all is set in it's proper place so as to remain inconspicuously out of sight. A sturdy railing lines the perimeter of the ship to prevent the lurching seas from pitching a man overboard, and they too are stained with the same light brown as the rest of the ship, and yet in one place the railing is opened and unenclosed, and nearby lays a long wooden plank which may be set in place upon disembarking from the vessel.
Obvious exits:
Foredeck leads to The Alcarondas - Fore Deck.
Mainmast leads to The Alcarondas - Mainmast.
Stern leads to The Alcarondas - Stern.
Galain arrives from upon the main mast.
Galain has arrived.

Rinkair is standing watching the seas and the ship across the way. He stands lightly, his bow beside him, as several dolphins leap from the water following the vessels.

Galain Climbs down the Rigging of the mainmast and jumps down the last few feet to land on the deck. Looking around Galain spots his captain and walks over to him stepping over a small coil of ropes. Finally making it to Rinkair he stops and stands beside him he stands silently watching the dolphins.

Galain turns his attention from the dolphins to his captain. "Storms coming in slowly Captain." he looks up at the sky. "They slowed down quite some bit sir."

Rinkair nods and says," Hopefully we can get a bit closer before we have to ride them out. I fear the ladies though will not enjoy the ride much. What think you on the matter Galain?"

Galain Shrugs slightly and looks out over the rail and farther out to sea. "I do not think the ladies should be at sea Captain. Might make the Alcarondas jelous to have any lady other than her around."

Rinkair chuckles softly and says, "Then we shall be sure to keep them aboard the Merchant captains ship now won't we?

Galain nods and laughs "Aye captain that we shall...that we shall." he lets his last words trail off. "I trimmed the top sails and tied up the foresail sir. If the winds get too strong I wouldnt want to loose the foresail to them."

Rinkair nods and says, "If they get too strong we may find ourselves forced to cut the sails loose, but for now I wish to ride on so we shall leave them up a bit longer. Tell me Galain, why did you join our navy. I have heard rumors of you. And you are well respected amongst the others on the crew.. "

Galain frowns "Rumors eh?" he shrugs off the idea "I joined because my father was a fisherman in Pelargir, he had a small boat, it was not worthy enough to be called a ship, but it was a boat none-the-less." he gances about the Alcarandas "He tought me what he knew of sailing and I took to it, determined to be as good a sailor as he. He went out into a gale to provide me and my mother with food, we tried to stop him but he would hear none of it." stops shortly thinking back. "He never returned."

Rinkair nods and says, "A great many tales are told such. And many others are told of the fathers and sons who went out in the best of weather. Only to meet a Corsair ship. You have done well on the ship. And you are a born sailor. though I must admit you carry the sword better than you do the ropes."

Galain grins "I had to earn money after my father left Captain." he taps the hilt of his sword. "He took the boat and left the sword. I was a guard for sail I guess you could call it. I wandered with merchants between Minas Tirith and Pelargir. I was forced to learn how to use this sword and learn it I did."

Rinkair nods and says, "Good.. It will hold you in good stead for I do not think we are free of the corsairs yet. And many a good man died when last we met their ilk. Too many. Of late we have been losing more than we should. But the Knights were a great help to us in that."

Galain nods in agreement "The corsairs have more luck than they deserve." he looks around his eyes constantly scanning the horizon. "The Knights helped, but they are not men of the sea. They belong on stable ground with their great steeds." his lip pulls up slightly in a smirk. "Im sure the last thing the corsairs planned to encounter on board the Alcarandas were aremed and armoured knights though."

Rinkair chuckles softly and says, "Indeed, though we may surprise them. Galain, you among all my men have spent time learning a sword aboard the lands. You know the weapon well, as do I but my time was spent in working one on one. Will you teach others how to fight such? And how to wear the armors that our foes love so much? As much as anything their armor has defeated us time and again. I do not think we will wear the heavy chain they do. It's a death trap. But the swords, while unwieldy to climb the masts with, are too much for merely a dagger to deal with. "

Galain nods yet again "Aye captain I shall teach the men how to wield such weapons." he looks down at the water as the ship cuts through it. "Aye the corsairs heavy chain is a death trap, but as long as they stay out of the water it is a great gift. I myself prefer the studded leather armour which I keep under my berth." he rests his hand on his long sword. "But to teach the crew how to use weapons such as these, it would be a great honor sir."

Rinkair smiles and says, "Good then Galain, you shall do so.. And I would ask you to see if you can devise a way to assure us of a few more of the Corsairs finding watery graves when next they try to board our ships. I will not us so sorrely decimated as we were before when Captain Kelgon(the old captain) was killed."

Galain grins "I have been thinking of how to prevent the corsairs from boarding out ships. As of now I have yet to come up with a proper idea Captain, but one that I had thought of more as a joke was to hinge the rails, and when they try to hook them, we could drop the rails down and the corsairs would have no way to keep our ships with theirs. As I said though it was more of a joke shared over a few drinks."

Rinkair hms, 'It has merit, but figure a way to keep the rails from giving out during a storm and we will use it Galain."

Galain chuckles "Aye, that is a downfall on the idea." he runs a hand through his hair. "If I may ask Sir, how did you come to be in the Navy and make the sea your home?

Rinkair smiles and says, "There is only two callings for a younger son. Or rather the youngest son, the Army or the Navy. I choose the sea, and it has treated me well, though my brothers have not been so treated. Only my oldest brother is still alive, of the other three. They are all dead. I worry too for my fathers health is not good. I have no wish to be head of my fathers house, yet I see what has happened to my family and see that my brother is all that remains between I and that. And I would worry that something may happen to him. For even our home in Pelagir is not as safe as it should be."

Galain nods "Aye Captain, for no place is as safe as it should be. The times are dark as the storm that approaches." he looks up to the ever-darkening sky as he speaks. "I would not know what it is like to be from a large family, as I lived with only my father and my mother." he watches the sky as a gull flys by outlined by the dim sky. he nods toward it "A good sign that there bird."

Rinkair smiles and says, "Signs can always be good my friend.. Remember also that there is hope even in the worst of situations. Nothing is a lost cause."

Galain says, "Aye that is true. I wonder how the ladies fair aboard the other ship, I hope they can hold their stomachs for the crew's sake."

Rinkair chuckles and says, "Aye. I think they will do fine, they didn't seem to surprised by ship board travel, but the storm will test them, and possibly some of the crew as well. She looks to be a dangerous blow coming up."

Galain nods "Aye that it does." He galnces up the main mast. "I should take my position up in the lookout again." he nods to his captain and steps away toward the rigging and starts to climb up. Looking back he adds "I doubt there will be much trouble in this weather unless it is that caused by the storm itself."

Rinkair nods, "Take care then Galain. We will speak again I think on your ideas. And work out the bit with the railings. We may have need of it before too long."

Galain nods and climbs farther up the rigging.
Galain carefully climbs up the rigging of the main mast.
Galain has left.
