Rinkair scowling slightly, walks along the docks heading towards the tavern, a set of scrolls in his hands. He seems to be muttering slightly as he walks and there is a distracted look about him. He stumbles several times over cobblestones but never breaks his concentration on the scrolls.
The young woman, noticing the scowling man, watches as he passes, her eyes flicking to the scrolls he carries with him briefly.
Rinkair nearly walks over the young woman but then stops suddenly realizing her presence, the documents, quite official looking, fluttering in his hands as he stumbles his mouth slightly open and his eyes a little wide, "Um, hello m'am."
Galain steps out of the tavern a mug of brandy in hand. He glances about as normal there is a slight grin on his face, he notices Rinkair with scrolls in hand and a scowl on his face, increasing his pace he hurrys along side and then slows down to keep speed with Rinkair, without looking at his captain he grins "Evening Captain, good drink in the tavern, best part about the land." he trys not to laughs and glances at the scrolls in his hand
Aiesha flushes, then quickly tries to move out of the way. "Sorry, Sir..I..." She falters slightly.
Rinkair nods to the Sergeant and says, "Good day, the ship never arrived anywhere in Gondor Galain.. I haven't a clue what could have happened to it." Rinkair seems to recover himself and bows to Aiesha, 'My apologies m'lady I have been overly rude. I am called Rinkair I am pleased to meet you."
Galain tries to stop at the same time as Rinkair but kicks a cobblestone and stumbles slighty splashin brandy out of his mug and onto his shirt, with a loud string of curses he tries to wipe the brandy off then turns his attention to Rinkair "Ship eh? ye dont mean the ship with the Princes gift do ye?" he grumbles. Then looks to the lovely lady. "Sorry, m'am, I am Galain, pleased to meet ye."
Rinkair nods, "Aye, that's the one. When we lost it in the storm.. Well suffice it to say we not only lost it but we really lost it. The Prince is not going to be pleased at all."
Aiesha blinks, then giggles. "I'm Aiesha, and pleased to make both of your aquaintances!" She eyes Galain slightly, particularly at the spilt brandy, then her eyes become curious. "Princes Gift?"
Galain nods slowly "Not pleased would be an understatment captain. Curse the storm, I never noticed it in the storm, and figured it would pull into a port to ride her out." he shakes his head sadly
Rinkair sighs and says, "I'm sure you'll hear all about it Lady Aiesha sooner or later.. It was the Prince of Dol Amroth's gift to the Steward. It was lost.. By me."
The sun sinks in the sky and falls below the horizon. Nighttime takes over.
Aiesha nods. "But how is that possible?"
Galain shakes his head "Nay Lady, he does not speak the truth, it was lost by the crew. It is as much our fault as it is the captains." He rubs at the brandy and curses some more "Just got this shirt clean too." he goes on for a little bit then turns back to Rinkair "The blame cannot lay on the shoulders of one man captain."
Rinkair looks at Galain and scowls, "My crew, my ship, my fault Sergeant.. And as to how. the ship the Gift was upon. We were escorting her and during a storm lost contact with her. She hasn't come back to port anywhere and we did not find here when we searched after the storm. The only course that I can determine is that she sunk."
Aiesha thinks for a time. "What was the gift, if i might ask?"
Galain takes a sip of what brandy is left in the glace and gives up arguing with the captain knowing that it is not his place to interfer. "When the Prince gets word of this..."he trails off "He well send men to search the shoreline for reckage, it is the least he can do." He looks to Rinkair to answer the question of what the gift was.
Rinkair looks at Galain and then sighs, "An accomplished troupe of dancers. To brighten the stewards court."
Aiesha blushes, then giggles.
Aiesha says, "Is it possible that any of the crew got back?"
Galain shrugs slightly "The bodies well be swept to shore if the currents be right, if not...we shall not know."
Rinkair sighs, "There's been no word. But that means little
I'm afraid. Though I had hoped there would be some word soon."
Aiesha continues to think. "I have heard of piracy on
these seas. Is that a possible answer?"
Galain chuckles slightly "I could see why the corsairs would want the girls, but the ship? Nay, and we would err should have seen any corsair ships, they would not have seen the ship in the storm, not that I know of at least."
Aiesha grins, "But how would you know?"
Galain frowns slightly and realizes that it is not his place to be speaking and stands silently near Rinkair watching with dull eyes. He sips at his brandy now and then realizing it gives little taste now.
Rinkair shakes his head and says, "There has been no word from sources in Harad of any such attack. And the Corsairs would brag of such a feat if they had done so. Nay, I do not believe it was the corsairs.."
Aiesha continues to think, her eyes revealing almost every thought that passes her mind. In the end, she aparently gives up. She sighs, "I think it goes beyond me! I'm no nautical genius, at any rate!"
She stares admiringly at the ship.
Rinkair sighs and shakes his head, "It can't be helped
now. Too much has happened. I only hope the Prince will accept my apologies.
It is possible Lady Aiehsa, but I would have expected the Corsairs to brag
of such a feat, as capturing a whole merchantman."
Rinkair smiles and says, "She's a beautiful ship. Have
you ever been on the Fleet's pride, Lady Aiesha?"
Galain looks at the ship as well and rubs his chin with his free hand mumbling under his breath, a few words can be made out and seem to sound like "I..wonder where we lost her.." He shakes his head slowly and then stares out past the ship and into the dull water.
Aiesha smiles, "No, but I will, someday. I love to travel...
The woman's eyes become dreamy as she continues to stare at the ship, imagining herself walking on it's decks...
Rinkair smiles and says, "Sergeant, Would you show the lady Aiesha around the ship. I'm holding you personably responsible for her safety and make sure that no one offers her any discourtesy."
Galain grins "Aye Captain, I shall make sure she gets the best treatment." he looks off toward the ship then steps toward her slightly then turns back to Aiesha "Care to take a look M'lady?"
Aiesha blinks, apparently woken from her daydream. "Who, me?",she mumbles, apparently not quite awake.
Galain grins "Aye, ye can come aboard." if hesitates slightly "Unless ye dont care to of course." he grins knoing the answer to that question the motions toward the Alcarondas
Rinkair smiles and says, "Please Lady Aiesha, accept our invitation and look around the Alcarondas. She will not mind methinks. Myself I must go. I have to request an Audience with the steward."
Aiesha shakes her head a bit, then grins. "I'd be honoured..."
Galain looks to Rinkair "An audience eh? If ye do not mind, could I travel along..it would not due to have ye the captain walking alone now would it?" he grins determined to go along. Then turns and walks toward the ship slow enough for Aiesha to catch up and Rinkair to give an answer.
Aiesha giggles, looking at the determined grin on Galain's face.
Rinkair shakes his head, "When the audience happens I'll find you Galain. But for now I merely need to make the time available. Take care both."
Galain grins and nods "I'll be in the tavern captain." he chuckles slightly then walks to the ship a little spring in his stride."
Aiesha calls over her shoulder, "My thanks once again....Captain
Rinkair... And Good Luck!"
Galain has left.
