Banjo-Tooie: A New Adventure

After their skirmish with Gruntilda, Banjo and Kazooie settle down to have a nice long rest. It won't last long though, as the two heroes are to soon find out…

Chapter 1

Below at the large rock sitting beneath Grunty's lair, Klungo works hard, but to no avail, "Rock very heavy Missssstresssss Grunty!" "Blast this rock, it will not budge! On bear and bird, I hold a grudge! They will regret this; I've made a vow! At Grunty's feet, I'll make them bow! I cannot wait 'till I can stand! I'll kick their butts across this land! Soon it seems that I shall walk, but first I'll have to lift this rock!" mumbles Gruntilda, still attempting to raise the boulder from atop her back. "You ssssshouldn't talk right now, Missssstresssss! Klungo sssssoon lift heavy rock and sssssave Grunty!" gasps Klungo as he gives a mighty heave. That last push did the trick! Down the hill bounded the boulder and Grunty was free once more! "Missssstresssss sssssaved!" yelled Klungo. "HAHAHA! I'm free at last! Now to give those two a blast! But first, I'm feeling not so hot, a good long rest should hit the spot! In my lair, I'll lock the door, until I'm up to health once more!" Grunty was soon dashing up the Spiral Mountain to her lair, with Klungo lumbering close behind.

In the cozy warmth of his home, Banjo was sleeping the morning away. At least until Kazooie's squawks woke him from his peaceful slumber, "Banjo, wake up! Lazy bear wake UP!!!" This jolted Banjo awake so fast his head hurt, "What is it Kazooie? I want to sleep!" "Look outside! Do you notice something missing?" said Kazooie. "What…? Oh, all right, if you insist!" said Banjo, practically tumbling out of his bed, "Hey! You're right! Something is wrong! It looks as if the boulder's been moved! Wasn't it at the top of the hill?" "Yes! Gruntilda's loose! We should pack up and leave while we still can, Banjo!" "No, Kazooie, we need to go up there and find out if she is really gone, then we'll inform Bottles, Mumbo, and Tooty!" In a flash Banjo (fully awake now) grabbed Kazooie's backpack, and rushed out the door, all the while Kazooie was screaming, "We have to get away! I'm not getting back into this, hear me?" Before they knew it, they were at the exact spot where Gruntilda used to be buried. "You were right Kazooie! The boulder has been pushed down the hill, and now Gruntilda is no longer stuck underneath it! Where's Bottles? Yo, Bottles!" With an upward surge of the dirt, Bottles popped out of one of his numerous molehills, "What's up, guys?" "Take a look at this, four eyes!!" Kazooie said, pointing to where Gruntilda should be. "Uh, Oh! We've got a problem! I'll go get Mumbo!" And with that, down Bottles plunged and dug through his spreading network of tunnels. Just then, Tooty ran up the hill, and upon seeing her brother, she scrambled up to him screaming, "I just saw Gruntilda! She was running up to her lair!" Turning to his sister, Banjo quickly told her, "We know Tooty, Bottles went to tell Mumbo!" "Well, I'd better get packing!" said Kazooie, getting more spooked every minute. "Not when Gruntilda could possibly snatch Tooty again! Do you want that, Kazooie?" Banjo said, turning to Kazooie. "I suppose not, Banjo. Yeesh, the things I get into!"

"Almost there, just a little farther!" Bottles puffed. The ground rumbled, and Mumbo awoke with a start, "Huh? Mumbo must have fallen asleep! What that? Feel like earthquake!" The ground beneath Mumbo's chair burst, sending him and his chair toppling backward. "AAA! Mumbo hurt head! Ouch!" "Sorry, Mumbo! I have urgent news! You must hear it!" Bottles said, noticing the shaman sprawled on his back. "What? Mumbo listen! Tell me!" Mumbo said, lifting up his chair. "Gruntilda's escaped!" "What? No joke? Does bear and filthy feathered one know?" "Yes! We have to do something!" "Mumbo get ready for bear and bird to come! Tell them I be waiting in Mumbo's Mountain!" "Right!" And with that, Bottles was digging his way back to the Spiral Mountain and Banjo's house.

Grunty stood over Dingpot like a king over his gold, "Dingpot, you remember me? Mine again now you will be! My broomstick, I remember, fell! Now it's time to test this spell! I'll bring it back, and I shall ride! It will once again be at my side!" Just then, Klungo tromped up to Grunty and handed her the remains of her broken broomstick, "Here you are missssstresssss! Jussssst asssss you asssssked!" "Thank you much, in Dingpot I'll throw, this splintered piece, so it will grow! Now I say the magic words, I will again fly with the birds! Grow piece of wood, again you'll be, a broomstick here to fly with me!" With those words, the splinter grew, and turned back into her broomstick! It flew around the room, then settled down in its usual spot in the corner. Gruntilda turned back to Dingpot and peered in. She saw Banjo, Kazooie, and Tooty walking up the mountain. "So their back, the little jerks! I now have a plan that I know works! They're coming here, to again face me, But who will win? We shall see! First, I have a lovely treat, a brand new challenge to lay at their feet! Tooty again is what I'll take, to be sure the trip they'll make! Eight new worlds I now have made, to see if those two will make the grade! So down I'll swoop, 'cuz Tooty's here, hurry, broomstick, get in gear! With that, Grunty flew down the stairs to the front door.

"We're almost there, Tooty!" Banjo said, "I can see the summit!" When they reached the top, Bottles popped up and stopped them in their tracks, "Mumbo said that he'll be waiting for you in his world, I suggest you don't keep him waiting. You'll be needing more moves I suppose, and I have a whole batch of them for you! Look out for my molehills in the lair." And with that, Bottles jumped in his hill and dug away. "Well Tooty, would you like to come see Mumbo with us?" Banjo said, turning to his sister. "Of course!" She replied. Just then, Grunty swooped down and picked up Tooty, "You won't have the chance, my cute little bear, I'm taking you into my lair!" "AAAA! Help Banjo!" "If you want her back, you must fight me! If you win I'll leave you be! I'll leave this place, and you alone, but if I win, her beauty's my own! Once again, my machine I'll use, you better hope that you don't lose! Through eight new worlds you must now master, my minions are stronger, and even faster! Then the final fight begins, and we all shall see who wins! EEEEHEHEHE! Grunty then flew off with Tooty in her clutches. Kazooie shook her head and mumbled, "Great, now we HAVE to go up there!"
