The Society of Voln
A treatise by Lord Morandas Vinewise
...................................................................................
Voln is a society of believers who release undead from their bondage, and in return receive powers that are rather remarkable.
Minimum training years (level) to join Voln: 3
Gaining special powers from Voln himself is only a matter of releasing an incrementally increasing number of undead creatures.
Number of steps in Voln: 26
Steps between incremental increase: 3
Numerical increase every 3 steps: 25
The first three steps of Voln require 25 favors. One can gain favor by releasing an undead creature.
Every three levels, the amount of Same Level Kills (SLK) increases by 25. SLK means that if you are level 3, then you need to kill that same level undead, in this case
a Greater Ghoul or an Ice Skeleton, in order to receive one favor.
Following this pattern:
Steps 1 through 3 4 through 6 7 through 9 Amount of favors per step: 25 50 75 So this is exactly the amount of favors that you need: Step # of Favors 1 25 2 25 3 25 4 50 5 50 6 50 7 75 8 75 9 75 10 100 11 100 12 100 13 125 14 125 15 125 16 150 17 150 18 150 19 175 20 175 21 175 22 200 23 200 24 200 25 225 26 225 Total: 3150
You really don't need to release 3150 creatures to make Master status in Voln.
You also gain favor by watching other Voln members release the undead. You gain 1/3 of the favor that’s you’d receive if you’d released the undead yourself.
Please note that if you release undead that are higher than you, that you receive more favor for it.
Example:
Henkkon is Level 10, Henkkon releases, kills, a level 20 undead creature...this results in him receiving the favor twice as fast. (2 favor for every kill).
Also note that if you kill creatures under your level, then you are receiving less favor for it.
Example:
Elfstan is Level 20, Elfstan releases, kills, a level 10 undead creature...this results in him receiving half the amount of favor he could have received by releasing a creature his own age. (1/2 favor for every kill).
This process by which favor is counted is a linear scale, there are no flaws and it works very well.
The following are the powers you gain step by step:
Step, Symbol, Uses
1 - Recognition: Lets you tell who in the room is in Voln.
2 - Blessing: Allows you to bless your own weapon.
3 - Thought: Gives you access to a Voln "thought" net (Volnet).
4 - Recovery: Restores some health to you.
5 - Courage: Increases your protection against “fear” spells.
6 - Protection: Adds to your defense.

10 - Calm: Self-explanatory.
11 - Sleep: Self-explanatory.

14 - Sight: Allows you to look in on another Voln member.
15 - Holiness: Allows you to bless magic metal weapons.
16 - Submission
17 - Restoration
18 - Need: An emergency beacon that tells all members where you are.
19 - Retribution: An e-wave kind of attack, hits multiple targets.
20 - Throw 2: More powerful version.
21 - Punch 2: More powerful version.
22 - Kick 2: More powerful version.
23 - Preservation: Lets you LK, life keep, yourself and others (even if you're dead).
24 - Dreams: Lets you regain spirit and through dreams.
25 - Return: Usage brings you, and all joined to you, back to the Voln Courtyard.
26 - Invitation: Allows you to serve as a recruiter for Voln, like the grizzled old warrior.
This concludes the information I have on Voln at this time.

The preceding information was in part provided to me by three sources:
The info on the process of gaining favor to “step” in Voln is from a BB post by a player who wishes to remain anonymous.
The steps in Voln were given to me by Lord Criell and Lady Kate, of whom I thank profusely for their help.
