Carmageddon was released last year amongst "just a tiny bit" of controversy, with calls to "ban this killer game" from the media around the world, and then went on to prove its critics wrong by scooping a body bag full of awards from around the globe. Developed once again, by the patients of Parkhurst prison's clinically insane wing, known as Stainless Software, Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now, is destined to make computer gaming history again. Let's face it, Carmageddon caused a blood storm in a teacup, this time prepare for a full-on tidal wave. Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now will take players to the next level of gameplay, whether you are trying to hold down your lunch after taking out those pedestrians waiting for a bus, or franticly trying to re-build your car after having your butt kicked by one of the Game's A.I. opponents, Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now will take you to the edge and further as you race your way through 1998's greatest driving game. We heard a rumour that we might have caused a little bit of controversy last year, well, Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now is about to create media mayhem !
Cars:
· Thanks to the
new and improved 3D and physics engine cars not only crumple as
before, this time they crumple, crush and fall apart. Imagine
pile driving into the side of an opponent and seeing his windows
smash onto his lap.
· You can ram a car so hard that
its wings, doors and bonnet detach and fly through the air and
are last seen sliding down the road in a huge spray of sparks.
You can smash your car and the cars of your opponents to such a
degree that you can even knock out the engine and push it down
the road.
· Stainless Software have also managed to
take the physics engine to such an extreme that if a car takes
enough damage it can be "banana" shaped or even split
into two halves.
· Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now
features new vehicles such as a combine harvester which will bail
pedestrians into neat little cubes, and an aeroplane without
wings and a real passion for living out its fantasy of being a
meat blender.
· Get ready for the sexier than hell, new
and improved Eagle MK 3.
Tracks:
·
Tighter, intense and extreme death match tracks.
· More
challenging single player tracks. These tracks will feature fully
interactive, destroyable landscapes, which means you have access
to things such as lifts, draw bridges, fake walls, concealed pits
and puzzle-like trigger points that will need to be solved in
order to access secret levels.
· You will stil be able
to race through the city streets, this time however you will also
be able to join F1 races and athletic events just for the sake of
good old fashioned carnage. Ever done the 100-metre spurt or
picked up a real case of Athletes foot.
Pedestrains:
·
Thanks to the new improved engine all pedestrians, animals and
other drivers are now polygon based which means, yep, you guessed
it, arms and legs can be detached. Well, Carmageddon has always
been known for pulling a leg or two. If you just remove a limb
the victim can still be seen, limping across the street,
searching for help..there is only one thing to do..finish
them.
Advanced
Artificial Intelligence:
· As well as having new
opponents with thier own intelligence, agression and racing
skills, Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now also boasts new in-game
A.I. This means new obstacles such as civilian cars and
pedestrians will react for example to stop signs, crossing lights
and even follow some driving etiquette.
Other
features:
· Improved network play - This will range
from the new network games such as "The Vampire Game"
to the addiction of serial/modem link. At last you can take on
players across the Internet.
· Ever heard of diving
drivers ? Well, if your car is hit hard enough, the last thing
that will go through your mind will be the
windscreen.
· New and exciting power-ups that include;
the ability to drop mines, to open your car doors (to catch those
fast moving animals), the option to have your own little barbecue
by emptying petrol over opponents, pedestrians and animals alike
and then kick in your cars afterburner and..well, you can work
out the rest.
· An introducery warm-up level to allow
new and seasoned psycho's alike, to prepare for the carnage
ahead.
· You wanted it, you got it. You can now save
your best skills, stunts, and crashes. The Action Replays can be
saved to disc and compared with other maniacs across the Internet
or via E-mail.
· Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse Now will
offer full support for all common 3D accelerator cards giving
640x480-screen resolution with 16 million colours.
