Carmageddon: The Deathrace 2000

AUSTRALIAN SOFTWARE CO., TORUS GAMES, TO DEVELOP CARMAGEDDON SEQUEL

International games publisher SCi, has this week announced Torus Games, a Melbourne-based software company, as the developers of Carmageddon - The Deathrace 2000: the third and most exciting installment in the series of award winning, best selling action driving games.

Previous Carmageddon titles have soared to the top of PC games charts, with close to 1 million copies sold worldwide. With the imminent release of versions for the Playstation, Nintendo 64 and Color Gameboy this success is sure to continue. The original PC versions netted awards such as Best PC Game of 1997 (Power Unlimited Magazine), and caused an international media maelstrom over its controversial content.

Torus has promised this third instalment, which has the working title of Carmageddon - The Deathrace 2000, will represent a complete overhaul. The company's own sophisticated 3D graphics engine is to be used, delivering smoother and more realistic images. Car handling and collisions are also set to become more life-like utilizing Torus's own advanced physics code in the game's physics system.

"Deathrace 2000 will look and feel considerably different from its predecessors." enthused Bill McIntosh, founder and managing director of Torus Games. "Without going into specifics, all key elements are being totally redesigned, and a number of new features introduced to keep the concept fresh and original." added Mr. McIntosh.

Significantly, Carmageddon - The Deathrace 2000 will also feature multi-player over the Internet. Carmageddon - The Deathrace 2000 is due for release for PC in November 1999.
