| The Joker was originally a poor man, down on luck. Owing large sums of
money and needing cash fast, he was duped into breaking into a chemical factory to steal
some money. When Batman showed up, the other criminals ran,
leaving him alone to face the Batman. In the ensuing fight, he was knocked into one of the
chemical vats and surfaced miles away in a river, his face and mind horribly changed. The
vats gave him chalk white skin, green hair, and ruby red lips. He renamed himself the
Joker and went on to become Batman's greatest villain. He killed Jason
Todd, the second Robin, and crippled Barbara Gordon,
formerly Batgirl, now Oracle. |
