Armed with a natural arsenal, such as long blades that come out of his wrists or his long, sharp teeth, Baraka became famous for his wild temper and unpredictability. Because of his fame, Baraka was instructed by Shao Kahn to journey to the Inworld and destroy Liu Kang's Shaolin Temples in order to lure the monk into the Outworld to face off in Mortal Kombat. For good measure, Kahn had Baraka participate in the tournament. Baraka served his master well. He used his blades to make blinding sparks to shoot at his opponent, and fought savagely at the oncoming human foes. Baraka's race became loyal to Kahn, and most of them joined Kahn's armies. Baraka met Mileena while at the tournament, and they became lovers, as she was deformed to have the same, pincer-sharp teeth as Baraka. The second tournament passed. The next year, when the invasion began, a species in the Outworld's lower regions took the opportunity to start a rebellion. Baraka led the attack that wiped out that race entirely under orders from Kahn. After that was finished with, Baraka became a sort of bodyguard for Kahn, picking off any Chosen Warrior that got too close to Kahn. Unfortunately, he missed a few. When an attack on Kahn almost resulted in his death, Baraka was forced to avoid the emperor at all costs. Kahn makes his anger known, but doesn’t kill Baraka. The nomad figures that it's only so long before Kahn begins to enact his vengeance. With Kahn's destruction, Baraka forsake any former alliance he had, including that with his forgotten and dead lover, Mileena. Baraka leaves his realm in an attempt to hide in the Mother Realm. When the dust of the Outworld's apocalyptic defeat settled, Baraka returned to find a new world, one he'd never seen or experienced of unparalleled beauty and peace: Edenia. |
