Story: Even before the first tournament, Kai and Liu Kang had met and become friends in the White Lotus Society together. When Liu Kang and Kung Lao began to band together the White Lotus Society before the invasion, Kai was one of the first they contacted. He had been trained by experienced Asian masters and was a powerful warrior.
Two years after the invasion, Kai traveled to America to be reunited with his long-time friend and grieve over the loss of Kung Lao with him.
He arrived in America only to be whisked away to aid in the battle against Shinnok and help Rayden free Edenia and stop the fallen god's dark plans.
