Story: Since almost the formation of the collection of realms known as the alienated, deformed Outworld, Shao Kahn gained two allies: the Shokan, and the Centurian.
From different worlds, and different cultures, the two fought for Kahn's favour for centuries. But lament assassinations and back-stabbing, the power shifted for millennia, until the appearance of Prince Goro.
Goro was a respected leader among the Shokan, he was chosen by Shang Tsung to accompany the aging sorcerer on his vengeance to Kung Lao the first.
Goro's downfall came nine generations later, with the arrival of Liu Kang, the Shaolin monk. The next year, Kahn prepared for Sindel's arrival by luring the Chosen Warriors into a deathtrap. Once again, he selected a Shokan, Kintaro, to lead the Armies of Darkness against the Earth Realm.
With Kintaro's failure, however, Kahn decided that he had had enough.

Once Kahn stole the souls of Earth, he discovered that the Chosen Warriors selected by the Elder Gods had souls that he could not touch. However, he could take their lives. Motaro was appointed to lead the extermination squads to route out the Chosen Warriors and destroy the Inworld pestilence once and for all.
Motaro served him well, with both the death of Johnny Cage and the reported death of Kabal. Kahn was pleased, and turned his favour completely to Motaro's race, and assisted in the extermination of the Shokan.
Kintaro led the resistance against Kahn's forces. But, before he died, he sent word to Sheeva of the sudden turn of events. Sheeva, Sindel's bodyguard and Kintaro's lover, immediately fled to the Outworld to find Kintaro at his last breath. In a rage, she battled Motaro.
They supposedly died when Kahn did, but none can prove the fact.
