Comments: I was very moved when I found this site. My Grandfather was retired from Sumter County Police Force. He served for over 47 years, and served with the rank of Captain. Last Thursday October 1, 1998 he had a massive heart attack, on the way to the Cla endon Memorial Hospital. The funeral service was held on Sunday October 4, 1998. The Sumter County Police Department had a ten car honor guard waiting at the Sumter County line to escort us to the Graveyard. Today is October 12, 1998, right now I am in my English Class. We are having to do a research report on a topic we chose. My topic is Law Enforcement in Sumter County. I would appreciate any infomation you could give me on the Sumter County or City Police.
