Born when Lenah the silver
crescent bit Shaydu, the moon of darkness, Braveclaw grew up in the vast
and rugged Northern Wilderness. Shadowtree, the dark Wolfen, was rescued
in the wilderness by him and the two have since been the most loyal of
friends. Member of the Earthenhand clan, Braveclaw earned his name on
his Rite of Passage when he fearlessly rescued his friend from a bear
attack using only courage and his bare hands. Both of them nearly killed
in the attack, he earned his status as warrior and his first stripe, a
deep claw mark in his cheek. His father embittered by the death of his
first son, Crimson Claw during a Coyle assisted raid against the humans,
he, his mother and sister suffered at the abusive hands of his father.
Astounded by human knights after he and his mother were rescued from
Coyle attackers by one, and urged on by increasing hatred on the part of
his father, Braveclaw left his clan for a time to train as a knight.
After serving as a squire he returned to his village, not allowing the
dislike of his family to keep him from his uncle or Grandmother, who
raised him after his fathers open denouncement of him. (See complete history of Braveclaw)
Tragedy and evil struck one dark
day when Shadowtree and Braveclaw returned from a hunting trip to find
the huts of the Earthenhand burned to the ground by the evil godling,
Tayami. The only survivor being a young kit by the name of Landroam, the
two were force leave him with another clan in search of vengeance and any
surviving members of their clan.
Their search led them to another
clan of kankoran, the Daringflightwhere they sought an artifact from a
temple of Heim which could slay Tayami. The guardian of the temple was a
young warrior by the name of Heartshot, who agreed to accompany them
temporarily on their quest ensuring the artifact was returned. The group
persuade the godling and her minions, tailing them back to the temple
where to the shock and horror of all, but particularly Heartshot, the
Daringflight village was gone, it's inhabitants burned. In a
confrontation at the temple, the Warriors faced Tayami and her servant
Fallax, but both escaped, leaving behind Tayami's hired help, the
mischievous hyrtil, Albion.
Thus the Warriors of Equinox,
those who which to restore the balance, began their search. They hunted
Tayami and their servants across the world following any lead they
thought could help them. The defended and saved countless canines as
well as humans, all the while questing to destroy evil wherever they
found it. It was not always easy and there were many times of doubt, but
together they prevailed.
Braveclaw has a strong belief
that those who are powerful must defend those who are not. Carrying
principles of justice learned in his chivalric training with humans, he
believes that the current conflict between the humans and the Wolfen can
only be solved by understanding and cooperation. He struggles to
overcome the stereotypes humans have placed on the canines by serving and
defending them. He was finally bestowed with the title of knight by a
grateful human kingdom in the north after he risked his life to protect
it. He hopes that eventually both the humans and the Wolfen, whom have
always respected kankoran wisdom, can be helped to reach a
resolution.
Leader by virtue of his
headstrong and often impulsive ways, Braveclaw often supports others and
shows a confident and resolute disposition though he may have doubts. He
relies on Shadowtree's druidic council and his own sense of justice to
lead.
As Heartshot and he went on as
best they could after the loss of both their families, Braveclaw slowly
began to see that there was something in both of them. He knew she
needed him but he soon discovered he needed her even more. The two grew
close as they passed through their trials of life and death, until
Heartshot suffered a terrible trauma which ultimately began to drive a
wedge between the two.
In a battle against a dark
sorcerer attempting to raise armies of demons using the Black Scepter,
the Warriors fought to the last. In the battle Heartshot was killed in
the melee against the sorcerer in a blinding flash of cruel magic energy.
The heroes retrieved the Scepter, but lost her and their valiant friend,
Heartfang.
Braveclaw was devastated after
he saw Heartshot's death, and he momentarily overjoyed when he
discovered that his Grandmother was indeed alive, he realized the one
thing that mattered in his life was gone.
After Heartshot's miraculous
return as a Priest of Heim, he asked her to be his lifebond and she
agreed.
Now, with the support and order
of Heim, the heroes are determined to destroy Tayami once for all, so
that the world will be safe for them and their challenge. Braveclaw
defeated his arch-enemy Fallax in a gladiatorial contest in the Western
Empire, the two have agreed that when they next meet, only one will
survive. The Heroes now crusade on as time grows short to stop Tayami's
dark plans.
Braveclaw's prowess in battle
is legendary, his stamina astounding. He, through honing of a natural
gift, tutored by his grandmother, has the ability to heal from injury at
an accelerated rate in a primal trance. But perhaps his most famous
trait is, that the field of battle he is without fear. Stalwart and
defiant against the most dangerous foe, he never shows a single instant
of fear.
Braveclaw is very tall for a
kankoran, and has a well toned agile build, with knotted muscles,
crisscrossed by numerous scars. His head and face are striped by scars
and he bears the warrior's brand of Earthenhand over his left eye. He is
usually clad in weathered studded leather armor (all his equipment has a
reminiscent Celtic style) and in the winter adds additional clothes and a
bearskin.
