Umi No Tamagotch

Umi No Tamagotch

The Oceangotch is not much like a Forestgotchi at all. It needs a lot of care from the start, and loses hearts at an alarming rate. If you plan to have an Ocean grow older than 3 years, then do not leave him alone! When you pull the tab, you see some bubbles and fish swimming by instead of an egg. After you set the time, you get a small roung pulsing egg that looks more like a bubble. When it hatches, you see more bubles and a little spider-like fish swims up. An hour later it turns into an Octopus-looking thing with 4 legs.

The icons are status meter, food (looks like a worm), play (chest), toilet, disc (looks like hands clapping), medicine, and lights (sun/moon). The food is Oden, and snack is an ice cream cone. The game has 2 treasure chests that open and close. Use A or B to pick chest #1 or chest #2. The sun will go down early in the Ocean, so make sure the light is on until Umi goes to sleep. When he beeps and sleeps, then it is safe to turn off the light. Early in the morning, the sun will come up, but even with the lights on the sun will shine.

The food and play meters are hearts, and the discipline meter is normal, but there is also a "water quality meter" which is depicted by 4 sculls. When Umi's "tank" gets dirty, the sculls will turn black. You have to flush it to keep all the sculls white. Each flush will clean one scull. If all 4 sculls get full, the screen will turn black. Occasionally while playing the game an octopus will pop out, and shoot India ink at umi. This turns the screen black and empties Umi's happy herts. You will need to flush it 4 times and continue playing to fill the meters.

Sometimes Umi will take a nap in the afternoon, and a polar bear will try to attack. If umi beeps and there is a figure at the side of the screen, push the "clapping hands" icon to wake umi, and then tap the case to scare away the bear.
