Basics

SLA Industries is one entrepreneur's answer to a never-ending war that nearly destroyed the Known Universe. From it's beginnings as an equipment, weapons, and personnel provider, SLA Industries has grown to something like an industrial government. A government that provides nearly everything needed to exist, from shelter and food to a purpose and ultimate goal.

The being that runs the company is an immortal known only as Mr. Slayer. One of the few remaining of an ancient race, Slayer's passion for competition keeps him and his company on top. Would-be rivals to his monopoly are crushed ruthlessly.

That's not to say nobody tries.
People

The hierarchical layout of SLA Industries is pretty easy to follow.

Top tier: also known as the Legends.
Mr. Slayer: Boss. He runs the show, everyone reports to him in some way.
Intruder: He is Slayer's right hand man. A power in his own right, though the need to rule doesn't grip him.
Senti: She is a mysterious woman of incredible power, who for the most part, stays out of the limelight.
Teeth: The first Necanthrope, also ludicrously powerful, he's the head of the Necanthrope society and Dark Lament.

Middle tier: also known as Suits.
Department Heads: these people run the departments of SLA Industries. They are powerful as far as the Masses are concerned, but may still be squashed like bugs by any of the Legends. Most of their influence is in their own departments, and with those who buy their products or use their services.

Places

The World of Progress, what's left of the known universe, is spread out over the light years. From dying resource worlds like Troy and Goth 4, to polluted industrial worlds like Artery, SLA Industries' mark can be found on every planet capable of supporting life or products.

Planets:

Mort: The headquarters for nearly all of the industries. This planet, though a putrid ball of hell, holds roughly 75% of all employees and nearly all non-employed. It holds the capital, Mort Central, and the operative training center, Meny.

Artery: A dead planet that produces most of the most of the genetically engineered beings of SLA Industries.

New Paris: Fashion center of SLA Industries.

History

Well, the published history of SLA is one of conquest and enslavement. Before the World of Progress came into being there were the Conflict Races. They had problems. The whole of the universe was embroiled in war, and those who did not fight were crushed, whether for racial safety or military advantage. Mr. Slayer then began the military supplies company known as SLA Industries. At first SLA only produced good equipment at excellent prices. Soon the quality rivaled any in the universe, and the price was just right for the resource starved Conflict Races. When new products came from the production lines of SLA Industries, there was a race to see who would be the first to use the new gear in battle.

Then came Mr. Slayer's finest creation, the Stormer, a biogenetically created being of brute force, copied from Intruder's genes. Running low on manpower, nearly all of the Conflict Races purchased Stormers to bolster their fighting forces.

Unknown to the Conflict Races, the Stormers had a secret agenda. At a prescheduled time, they all turned on their masters.

Future

As in any civilization, the future is not that easy to predict. There will always be change. Things will always be the same. Though most believe the Conflict Races have died, who knows? And Mr. Slayer has plenty of enemies, maybe one will get lucky. Competition is strife in SLA Industries, who will be on top tomorrow?

There are of course rumors of dread monsters, that will come in the night. And they whisper "Walker is coming..." before they die.

Some believe in the coming "Golden Age". Others can only see the famine, pestilence, and war that come before death. The only advice that seems prudent is to try and survive one day at a time.
