The Sprite's magic

Undine - Water Element
Like all elements, this elemental's magic is only limited by the resistance of monsters.

Acid Storm 3mp - acid falls on the enemy and lowers defense.
The defense debuff is hardly worth the cost, and the damage is significantly lower than freeze.

Freeze 2mp - Every elemental has a basic element damage spell for the sprite, this is Undine's.
When the situation calls for water/ice damage, this is really the only useful spell.

Energy absorb 2mp - Damage done to enemy is transferred as HP to the sprite.
Given that the girl's cure water heals much more health, and that this spell's damage is rather low,
this spell should be used in heavy moderation.

Gnome - Earth Element
Earth damage proves to be very useful throughout the game, as few monsters have a strong resistance to it.

Gem Missile 2mp - Three spiked gems strike the enemy.
The basic elemental damage spell for gnome.

Earth Slide 3mp - A boulder of earth falls upon the target.
This spell inflicts more damage than Gem Missile, but the difference is only worth the extra magic point at higher levels.

Speed Down 1mp - Vines entangle the enemy.
Generally your characters are in a close proximity to the monster to begin with, so slowing their
movement is essentially useless.

Sylphid - Wind Element

Air Blast 2mp - Gale forces strike the target
Because of the high cost of thunderbolt, Air Blast is a much better choice throughout most of the game.

Thunderbolt 4mp - A bolt of lightning strikes the enemy
At later levels, when more damage is needed, the extra payload can help, but this spell should not be chain-casted.

Silence 2mp - Reverses enemy movement
The Gods of logic will never know why Squaresoft made this spell available to the player. The computer is not phased
by a spell that targets the hand-eye coordination of player. Never cast this spell.

Salamando - Fire Element

Fireball 2mp - Three fireballs scorch the enemy
The basic fire damage spell.

Lava wave 3mp - Bubbles of lava burn the enemy
This is a wildcard spell; basically, lava wave's damage has a huge variance, so the spell can inflict more damage
than either of the other two fire spells, but in turn, can do as little as 10 damage. Overall, the spell is only
for risktakers.

Exploder 4mp - Heavy-duty fire damage
The double density fireball spell. More damage, but at a higher mp cost. By the time you get Salamando, you should be
familiar with the basic strategy for these high cost spells.

Shade - Shadow Element

Dispel magic 4mp - Dispels all status magic
This spell comes in handy against the monsters that cast the pesky Lucid Barrier spell, but that is about all this spell
is useful for.

Evil gate 8mp - A circular wave engulfs the enemy
I've yet to find a decent application for this expensive spell, but that does not mean one does not exist.

Dark Force 2mp - Orbs of shadow surround the target
The simple damage spell of shade.

Luna - Lunar Element

Change form 5mp - Polymorphs the enemy to a lower form
Although the enemy's form is de-evolved, they will often retain their attack abilities, reducing the overall
effectiveness of this spell.

Mp absorb 1mp - Steal magic from a target
Once this spell is obtained and leveled properly, the sprite becomes immensely more powerful in battle. This spell
can provide the sprite with a limitless magic pool, except with bosses, who are often resistant to the effects.

Lunar magic 8mp - Random status on all players/monsters
More of a novelty than anything else, this spell is a high cost, low benefit affair. The following is a list of the
effects possible, which are chosen at random when this spell is cast:

Burned out = Enemy attack, evade, and defense is reduced
Raring to go = Enemy attack, evade, and defense is increased
World's smaller? = All members are pygmized
All's confused! = Confusion/silence effect on all
Kupi Kipu? = All are Moogled

Dryad - Mana/Tree Element

Burst 4mp - A mana blast is fired at one opponent
Think explosion with a non-element setting. By the time you get this, you'll have to sit down and level it for quite
a while before it will inflict decent damage.

Sleep Flower 2mp - Put an enemy to sleep
A good spell, but really, one of the first monsters in the game can cast this spell. And the sprite doesn't learn it
until he is blessed with the mana (essentially the ultimate) element magic.

Mana Magic 1mp - Revives mana sword when coupled with the girl's counterpart spell.
