The Star Angels

A recently formed vigilante group in Neo-Angeles, the Star Angels work along similar lines to the Knight Sabres; operating covertly, performing espionage and combat missions as mercenaries while also keeping Genom in check. Their leader, Carlisle West, established the group from a data unit sent to her by Dr. Kasuhito Stingray. She has established a base of operations in Neo-Angeles, constructed equipment for the gruop, and has begun gathering members. The rules of the Star Angels are as follows:

  1. Never reveal any information on the group, its methods, tactics, equipment, members, contacts or employers to an outsider.
  2. Never act alone, for personal reasons, or without the approval of the leader or any other members.
  3. Never conduct group-related tasks such as intelligence or espionage activities alone.
  4. Keep in contact with all other group members regularly.
  5. Members do not know each other outside this organisation.
The penalty for violation of any of these rules is death.

Campaign Update: After being taken captive by a group of boomers, Carla was seriously injured and forced to retire from a combat position in the Star Angels. In the same adventure, they met a new ally, Nicosia Winters, who has since taken up the Jackal Hardsuit in a permanent role in the team.

She asked Freya to join the Star Angels, to which she agreed, and now serves as their close combat specialist.

Freya is a friendly but not outgoing young woman who generally takes life seriously and doesn't expect things to be easy. She keeps up with a number of friends, but doesn't have anyone particularly special in her life.

Description:

Shamus was born and raised in old Los Angeles. His life was shattered in the 2026 earthquake when he lost his parents and younger sister. He inherited a fair amount of money, and has since lived in an apartment on his own.

He joined E-SWAT after some time, and rose quickly through the ranks from a frontline officer into the piloting division. He is currently assigned an ST-17P. In 2032, he was approached by Carlisle West who had been observing him for some time. She said that he had the talents she was looking for, and asked him to join the newly-founded Star Angels. He accepted, and has since become the group's assault specialist.

Shamus is generally a nice person, friendly and reasonable. He is however prone to serious mood swings. He sees everyone as a valuable individual, and especially values Carlisle West as a mentor. There have been two recent attempts on his life that have made him cautious, especially considering that he has no idea of who the attacker is.

Campaign Update: Shamus was attacked a third time, by an advanced model of android boomer which took a .375 slug to the head and fell from an 11 story window, yet still managed to get up and walk away. It was later destroyed, but Shamus is very worried by the equipment available to his shadowy enemies.

Description:

Nicosia grew up in old Los Angeles. When she was nineteen, the earthquake struck, crushing her parents to death. She has since found out that their deaths were no accident; a suppressed coroner's report shows evidence that they were murdered, and that it was covered up in the earthquake.

Nicosia spent some time in the US army as a battlesuit pilot, including serving time in the antarctic war. She has since left and drifted back to Neo-Angeles, where she met Carla Harwood. She got involved with the Star Angels during a boomer attack on the Neo-Angeles Megamall. She has since taken up Carla's role, and uses the Jackal hardsuit.

Nicosia is very much the professional, serious and often coming over as cold and gruff. She gets hilariously drunk very easily, and is more than just a touch bigoted against "boomers, faunas and pinko leftos," but this is only a problem when drunk. Having served in the army, she brings valuable boomer-fighting experience to the team, especially against very dangerous Battle Boomers.

Description:

Carlsile West is the daughter of Dr. Sean West, an early colleague of Dr. Stingray's before the initialisation of the PCBC. She never knew her mother, and has no photographs or momentos of her. Her father was murdered when she was only 11 years old; the police could find no clues, and stowed it in their "unsolvable" bin to be forgotten. She was raised by her aunt, and at age 18 inherited her father's fortune.

As she grew up, she saw the world around her change, becoming a darker and uglier place, with people, groups and even governments controlled from the shadows. This turned her into the cold woman she is today. In 2032 she recieved a Stingray data unit, entrusted to the care of a legal firm until she was 25. It contained amazing technical data and hints as to who might have murdered her father. She used the technology on the data unit and her inherited wealth to begin construction of equipment and mecha to help her fulfill her dream. By the start of 2033, her preparations were ready and she began to recruit others to aid her.

Carlsile West is a tall, elegant and beautiful young woman, with medium-length silky brown hair and odd reddish-brown eyes. She greatly resembles Sylia Stingray of Megatokyo, even though the two of them have never heard of each other. She is always cold and business-like, even though she can act good-humoured and friendly when the need arises. She is driven to not merely restrain Genom, but to someday destroy them, freeing the world from its control. She is highly intelligent and efficient, and believes that the others mebers of the Star Angels are capable of more than they believe themselves.

CYBERWARE:

Cyberarm (right) with limited fusion ability, processor, brain box (POW: 3); boomerware,
cost: 29.

Description:

Adam grew up a poor kid in a poor district. As luck would have it, he found an outdated, discarded computer when he was young and used it to begin learning his future trade. When he was only 15, a powerfull combat boomer went on a rampage in his district; it killed his family, demolished their flat, and cost him his right arm before the E-SWAT managed to bring it down. He had his arm replaced with a cybernetic one at an underground clinic. At the same place, he also managed to score a good deal of neural equipment and upgrades.

After years of learning to cope with and use his new-found cyberware, Adam has discovered that the arm belonged to a combat boomer. It still retains a small degree of its fusion ability, although the boomer's regenerative powers are long gone. He can control this ability to minute detail, using it to fuse with a computer's systems through the keyboard or other such controls and operate it directly with his mind (+2 to skill). When bored, he also use this ability to cheat at arcade games. Carlisle found him doing this one day when she was wandering the ground floor of the Dreamworld building. She instantly recognised his talent, and after a long talk, he agreed to join the Star Angels as their computer specialist.

Adam is friendly and outgoing to everyone, although he regards people suspiciously until they earn his respect. He considers himself an expert on computer systems (which he nearly is) and will not tolerate anyone's help or advice. He sees the other Star Angels as good friends, and especially Carlisle who he regards as an older sister.

Description:

Carla Harwood started life as the spoilt daughter of two extremely rich executives. Her family lost everything when their company was taken over and dissolved by Genom. Carla had nothing to inherit when she came of age, and quickly fell into bad company. She now does freelance espionage, hacking or surveilance work for gangs and organized crime groups.

Once, as part of her payment, she was given a Data Unit stolen from a legal firm, in the hopes that she could make something out of it. She examined it, and found the data to be in a bizzare state. Unable to comprehend it, and feeling overwhelmingly curious, she found its proper owner, Carlisle West, delivered it to her and confessed having tried to access it. The data unit was one of Dr. Stingray's, and a few weeks afterwards Carlisle approached her offering her a position in the soon-to-be-formed Star Angels group. Carla turned the offer down, saying that she preferred to work on her own. Carlisle constructed the Jackal hardsuit for her, and gave it to Carla to test out the technology, on the condition that she assist them when asked. Thus the Jackal has been equipped with a wide variety of weapons systems.

Friendly and a bit sly, Carla is always good natured and good humoured. Bad luck follows her like a lost puppy, causing her to constantly trip, break things, etc. She is a bit vacant at times, and seems very silly when trying to cover up for her blunders. Carla craves romance and passion; she has several times (with no success) tried to hit on to Carlisle. She is a horrible housekeeper and an avid modeller; her entire apartment is cluttered with all kinds of junk and debris, save for her model shelf which proudly displays a wide variety of anime and boomer model kits, often decorated with strange little stickers and decals.

Campaign update: Carla was badly injured in a battle with several combat boomers, and lost her right leg. Although she gained a cybernetic replacement, many of the nerve endings were fried and she has been unable to move properly since. As a result ahs has had to retire for combat duty in the Star Angels; she instead takes up a support role, including driving the Star Angels' massive roadhauler.
