Child's Play 2 grossed $10,700,000 in the opening weekend. Totals were at $28,501,605, slightly less than that of the first one. The film was released on November 9, exactly two years after the release of the first Child's Play.
The movie was filmed in Chicago.
When the film appears on television, numerous scenes that were cut from the theatrical version are inserted:
* Two different scenes were put in with Joanne and Phil talking about Andy and about the adoption agency letting them keep the children.
* The ugly dude that smashes through the window after being electrocuted land differently.
* Before the assistant calls his girlfriend in the car, he calls his wife and tells her he has to work late. What an asshole!
* A different ending shows Chucky's face being created through the machines, then Chucky gives an evil smile, much like the beginning of Child's Play 3.
* While searching for the newspaper delivery truck with Chucky and Andy on it, Kyle stops in an alleyway and looks around.
* Instead of simply flippin' Chucky the ol' bird right before he gets disfigured at the end, Kyle says "Playtime's over".
* More dialouge from Kyle during the eyeball machine sequence towards the end.
* Joanne asks Andy if he is alright right after Phil almost smashed into the Play Pal's truck. What a dork...
* The ending is slightly extended on television. Following Kyle's dialogue in the last shot, a scene appears in the factory where Chucky's face is being remade and an evil grin appears.
