For decades, man has been wondering if he was alone in the universe. In 1999, that question was answered. Mankind was going to war with aliens in order to survive. The aliens, having the element of surprise and far more advanced technology, should not have any problems annihilating Earth. But they underestimated only one thing: that humans adapt quickly in order to stay alive. In the past years, isolated cases of appearing UFOs and people seeing unidentified flying objects concerned Earth's scientists.

In 1998, UFOs began to land openly in rural areas; the aim of these early missions was of abductions of inhabitants and animals. The first military contact with the aliens led to the massacre of an entire squad. In November of that year, an emergency meeting was convened at the United Nations. As a result of that year, X-COM was established. Secret bases are established and the latest technology is made available. The best scientists and engineers were hired and began working on a new technology that would give our race a chance to eliminate this new threat. Intensive training was provided to the best soldiers and marines around the globe. Governments started giving funds in order to keep the new organization alive.

Now, The year 1999 begins with a new hope. And its name is: eXtra - terrestrial COMbat unit. In order to keep the faith, you can download the demo of X-COM: UFO Defense and try to save your future, as well as the future of mankind.
