The group walked for days in the desert with no clue as to where they are going. They just so happen to stumble onto one of Etemon's power sources. Izzy plugs a cable from the power source into his laptop. He is trying to crack open the program. The group wants him to crash it for good. TK walks over to see what Izzy is doing, "Hey, you have mail," he points out.
"Huh?" Izzy wonders, who could send them email in Digi-World. He opens it up and finds a message. But it's no ordinary message. It's an SOS asking the group for help. They receive a map also.
"What do you mean my network's down?" Etemon screams, "I want those stinking kids now!" The Gazimons are at the controls trying to fix the problem. They see a small glitch in the Pyramid sector. "PYRAMID?! Datamon! Get me there in a hurry!" Etemon commands, seeming really upset. His trailer pulled by a Monochromon darts across the desert.
Joe is babbling to himself and just can't stop. "Don't have a brain cramp Joe!" Mimi says. The group followed the map to a place full of cliffs, very much like a canyon.
"Someone asked for our help, we at least have to check it out right?" Tai says, asuming the role of leader.
"According to my laptop we should be close," Izzy says. Sora and TK look down at their tags, in hopes of it activating. As if their wishes came true, TK's tag glows with a light. Tokomon dashes off around the corner and returns. He tells the others to follow. He found the crest. TK holds up his tag, the crest combines with the tag. It also reveals a wall, inside are the same heirogylifs the group saw in the giant battery in the factory with Andromon. The group thinks that if they rescue the person, he/she might help them find Sora's crest; since Sora's crest is the only one. They all walk into the strange room. Izzy starts typing, he sees a new character on the wall. He erases it and the whole tunnel lights up.
"....You see its quite possible that these heiroglifs are not a form of writing at all, but rather code. Computer code. If you change a piece of the code, then you change the program," he wipes off a character and a map appears before them, "like that for example."
Joe is confused, "Wait, back up. Are you telling us that this whole place is some kind of giant computer game? and none of it is really real?"
"Oh it's real alright," Izzy says positively. He explains that everyone is a piece of information in physical form, that everything is like that.
"Now wait a second. If your right and this whole thing is one big computer then how did we get here? Did we squeeze into the floppy drive?" Matt asks. Izzy explains that they are all versions of themselves only in data form. Tai disagrees, he still feel like he's flesh and bone.
"Then why do I still have to go to the little girl's room?" Mimi insists. Izzy explains that they just think they have to. He supposes that their real selve are still at the camp ground, they exist in a parallel dimension
Izzy has an idea and sits down and starts typing. "Uh oh, he's in computer dork mode, this could take awhile," Mimi points out.
Izzy brings up the map of the Digi World, a globe with intercepting lines. He compares it to the communication lines of Earth, they match exactly. This proves his theory correct. Digi-World is a physical embodiment of the real world's data. It's unique. No one ever saw it or experienced it. "Digital Shadow World which exists alongside our own," Izzy explains. It is linked, anything they do there has an effect on the other world.
"This is depressing, even when I'm computer data, I have allergies," Joe says.
"Sora, does this mean we don't exist? That we're really not friends?" Biyomon says.
"Of course not, this maybe a make believe world, but that doesn't mean out friendships isn't real," Sora says, smiling at Biyomon.
Now back to the rescuing, Izzy inputs the person asking for help's email. This should help them locate him.
"Is the person that sent the message in out world or digi-world?" Sora asks. Only one way to find out. Izzy presses [ENTER].
The end of the tunnel opens up, they walk over there. They are in the Sphinx, the mouth of the Sphinx. (The Sphinx was a big statue out of sand that the Egytians made). Tai uses his telescope to look around, he sees Etemon's trailer.
"That's it. It's the dumpster for you Datamon you pile of junk!" Etemon walks into the Pyramid. The Gazimon are standing guard.
At night, a campfire is lit and Agumon and Tai are looking up at the sky. Sora and Biyomon walks in. "Okay Tai, your relieved," Sora says, taking the role of night guard now. Sora seems worried, she asks Tai if it's worth it. If it's worth it trying to find her crest.
"I look forward to spinning that ugly monkey by his tail!" Tai says. He and everybody else wouldn't hestitatwe for a second, and she wouldn't hestitate either if it were anyone else's crest.
"It's just after what Izzy said, it just makes us seem so small and insignifcant and nothing we do really matters," Sora says.
"Of course it matters, we can't take the chance that it doesn't," Tai replies.
In the morning at the mouth of the Sphinx, Joe warns everyone that they have to be just as careful as their real selves. Izzy found a direct root to the place their friend is trapped. Izzy, Tai, Sora and Joe are going to go in.
"See you guys, come back as soon as you can," TK and Tokomon says.
The kids run behind the pyramid, Izzy says there is a trap door. They can't see it. Tai sees Etemon coming out of the pyramid, Etemon hears something and walks over to their direction to check it out. When he goes there, he sees no one. He turns away, Tai's hand pops out of the pyramid wall and wave to Etemon. Etemon immediantly turns back to see what it is, Tai already took his hand away. Etemon thinks he's hearing things.
Izzy says that they just have to find the weak points of the pyramid and they can go without being seen. They can see through a wall, Gazimons pass by. Tai jumps out and shrieks. The Gazimon look back, Tai jumps back also. The Gazimon start arguing with each other. Tai is having a great time. Sora is angry at Tai for being so immature. They walk to an electric fence, it's a firewall. The pyramid's only line of defence. They can't see any weak point, Izzy taps on his laptop and points to the weak point. Tai goes straight through with no fear or hestition. Everybody else is stunned. They eventually go through. They go to an alien room with metal as walls. In the corner is a glass force field surrounding a mechanical Digimon.
It's DATAMON, he is super-intelligent and went missing a long time ago. He was the one that sent the email. He communicated through to Izzy's computer. Datamon explained that long time ago, he and Etemon fought. Through under-estimating, Datamon lost and Etemon imprisoned him in the pyramid to establish his Dark Network. Without Etemon knowing, he slowly repaired himself and gave misery to Etemon's Network. The kids don't know if they can trust him. Datamon tells the kids that Etemon are both their enemy wich makes them allies. Datamon tells them to push the lever down, Izzy unlocks the lock and tells Tai to push the lever back up. Before he could do this....guess who shows up?????
"So it was you!" Etemon rages, he runs toward Tai hoping to stop him.
"Digivolve help out!" Agumon says...."Agumon digi-volve to GREYMON!" 
"Tentomon digi-volve to KABUTERIMON!" "Biyomon digi-volve to BIRDRAMON!" The digimon give Tai a chance, he pulls the lever back up and releases Datamon. Datamon sends the glass flying towards Etemon, he dodges all of them. A glass hits Birdramon and traps her against the wall, she digi-volves back to Biyomon. The kids yell at Datamon. Datamon makes a point that they can trust no one. He releases projectiles toward Etemon.
"Dark Network!" A green energy ball powers up and Etemon throws it at the projectiles. An enormous explosions occurs, that even Matt, TK and Mimi can see. Matt and Mimi decide to go and help out, leaving TK there to stand guard. Etemon traps Datamon to a wall, Datamon just laughs and picks up Sora and Biyomon and vanishes into the wall. The Digimon try to hold off Etemon, while the kids go after them.
Through the wall is another electrical fence. Tai runs toward it, Joe holds him back. "How do you know which way to go?!" Izzy and Joe argue with Tai that anything he does in the Digi World could affect his physical self on Earth. Tai realizes now, that he can die. He's frozen with shock. Izzy calculated the place to go through, he tells Tai. But Tai can't move. Etemon breaks through. The Digimon tried to hold him back.
The ceiling above breaks and reveals Garurumon and Togemon, Matt and Mimi instruct the group to go. No time now, they have to go. Back at the Sphinx, Tai is crying and holding his knees, tears fall from his face. He mutters that it's all his fault..."Sora it's all my fault....SORA IT'S MY FAULT!!!!"
