A: According to the specials guide, once they
hit they become considered power cards. Once they hit, they cannot be negated
(although they can be negated defensively at the time of the attack). If
you hit X-Babies with them, they will not contribute towards their KO.
Q: After you use an Any-Power (5,
6, or 7), into which pile does it get discarded? Can it get reused later
on like other Power cards or not?
A: It's a Power card, it goes to the power pack.
Just because they are OPD does not change the fact that they are power
cards. The rules say nothing about "non-OPD" cards being put to one pile
and "OPD" cards being put to another - it merely points out that Power
cards go to one pile, KO'd Heroes, Events, and Specials from a Battlesite
go to another, and everything else goes to the Dead Pile. That's it. And
an Any-Power Power card is still a power card.
Q: Can my Any-Power 7 be used to
follow-up a teamwork, say I have 7 Energy acts as a 6 E, follow-up with
a 4 Multi-Power Strength, then the 7 Any-Power as Fighting?
A: Only if the person using the 7 any power card is qualified to make a level 7 fighting attack (i.e., their power grid is 7 or 8 in fighting).
A: Typically, I defer to the specials guide. However, as my comments on that page are duly noted, I do not think that it is correct. My understanding of Any-Power cards is that they are NOT declared to be a specific type - ever. If I attack you with an HN Special, then AD Specials like "Avoid 1 Fighting attack" do not work against it. If I use a level 7 Any Power Power card, and the only skill I have a 7 in is Fighting, you cannot use "Avoid 1 Fighting attack" to avoid it. While this may seem to contradict a previous ruling, stay with it and it will all make sense.
If, on the other hand, I attack you with a teamwork card and then follow up with an anypower power card, then there is the possibility of that being avoided with an AD Special. That possibility is that the follow up is taking place in that skill. So, in essence, I am avoiding the fighting specific bonus, not necessarily the power card - but if part of the attack is avoided, then the entire attack is avoided.
I hope this makes sense to everyone. If not, I'm sure I'll hear it.
Q: Can Tactic: Doubleshots be combined
with MultiPower Power cards?
A: No
Q: Hi, what exactly can you combine
MultiPower cards with? Teamwork? basic universe? Tactic Doubleshots. The
rulebook says they are wild cards and some people say they can be used
in the same manner as power cards.
A: MultiPower Power cards are played just like all other Power cards. Used by themselves, any Character can use any MultiPower to defend, or to attack in a skill that they have sufficient level in. For example, Shadow King's Grid is 7-1-1-7. He can play a level 3 MultiPower as an Energy or an Intellect attack, but not as Fighting or Strength. Remember to always "call" what type your using the MultiPower attack as, because your opponent might pull an "avoid 1 Energy attack" to defend it when you should've called it Intellect, etc.
A MultiPower Power card can be used with any kind of Universe card. However, it is important to make sure that the Character's Grid allows them to use the MultiPower in the skill type that the Universe requires. Shadow King's teammate plays a Teamwork; Shadow King could then use a level 3 MultiPower as an Energy or Intellect Follow-up to the Teamwork. If the Teamwork only had Fighting and Strength Follow-ups, he could not use the MultiPower at that time. He could use the 3 Multi later with an Energy or Intellect Basic Universe.
Finally, a MultiPower cannot be used with any cards that ask for a specific skill type of Power card. Double Shots require that the pure type be combined; if it asks for an Energy Power card, then only an Energy Power card could be combined, never a MultiPower.
As a side note, AnyPower Power cards are played identically to MultiPower, just be sure to check that the Character has sufficient skill in the type that the Universe card requires (or that they have a high enough skill in any type on their grid; X-Babies 5-5-4-1 cannot play the 6 AnyPower, for example). The difference is that AnyPowers never count for Spectrum KO, while MultiPowers fuse to become whatever they need to be for the Spectrum KO.
