Distant Empires Plan

Origional Plan:
I was origionally creating a online version of Star Control 2's solar system. The modifications needed would be to allow clients to manipulate it from another computer. Also to get to other systems, instead of HyperSpace, would have Worm Holes capable of going directly to another system.

Current Plans for Game
Based on what I am building, I am hoping to allow Online Melee (Bit more dificult than above) with more than one ship. Will allow other things listed below. Please complain, as I then know what other people think at illuminator43@hotmail.com

Empires:
Their is going to be 1 player per empire before this starts. Each will be given the capability of defending itself and to build ships/more men/e.t.c. This will eventually expand into a great empire (or just started as a great empire)

With the alliance control (read below) Empires can be devided up amung many people while still allowing the people to work for a common purpose (Each person controls a section) for example in Star Wars books where the Empire is under control of 8 Warlords (now fighting amungst themselves for control but I guess nothing is perfect).

Players:
When a player starts, he will start with the ship according to the race he has selected. At this point, he cannot build ships or recrew his ship and will have to get support of some of the empires. The only way a player can start building his own ships (instead of getting them from empires) is if they decide to give him a ship capable of construction and a colony. The only real difference is what they have that affects what they can do.

Players probably live long without help, but if someone has idea's on how ship theif's or something like that could be accomplished, they may be able to do this.

Alliances:
Players are able to create new groups (sort of like another player) that they can transfer ships to. All people allied to this player also have full control of all things in the fake player's posession allowing mutual control if you dont trust him enough to give him control of your whole fleet. It also allows 2 or more people to take advantage of the ships their if under attack

Money:
People can get money as they did on StarCon2, or just stick mining bases/robots to do it for you. It is in ru's, and empires can sell their ships for as much as they want. TO origionally build them cost the melee value*100 ru's (the melee value is the starbuck value in starcon1).

Ship Construction:
Probably just a starbase in orbit, or some building on a planet will make these. It will also have a time delay (Prevent a huge fleet created in 5 min). 1h to build or something... (Over time, becomes powerful)

Planetary Bases:
To keep it simular to StarCon2 planets, I will be keeping the Minerals (Come back over time). I will also allow buildings on planets (I will not have a small window like sc2 probably).
Buildings Needed: (Probably more to come)
Mining Base-Robots 600 ru, and they just mine the planet if they detect minerals. Automatic Mining, but slow. The base will be a bit more expensive
Colonies: People appear on colony after a time. Will not work if you have no colonist on the planet. You need the coresponding colony with the StarBase or whatever to build that race's ships. This will prevent people that do not want their ships built across the galaxy.
Ship Bunkers: If the players that go out for a profit in their single/small ship group wish to set down with little chance of being attacked, they can use these (Empires may build them and their fleet around the planet if their should protect the planet).
Fortifications: Will prevent the planet from being destroyed until it is gone (Att Value of the ship is used every minute or so). Unlike starcon1, the ships can give up and leave.

I know more are needed, but I have run out of Idea's
I am not planning for a planet to defend itself, but can fend off a attack for a while. (Maybe from landers)
