The Bretonnians had foolishly stored there siege equipment in warehouses close to the gates, so they could access it quickly in an emergency. The forces of Chaos decided to send an elite strike team to burn the warehouses to the ground, depriving the Bretonnians of valuable equipment.

CHAOS

*****

Commander Vortal, smarting from his recent failure to stop the Bretonnians getting a message through, decided to launch a midnight assault on the Bretonnian city. One of the guards that night had been turned to Chaos, and would hang a rope from the battlements so the infiltrators could climb up. He sent for Asiator, the most promising of his lieutenants. "Asiator, I have a job for you. Take whatever you need to accomplish it from our stores. Casualties are irrelevant. All that matters is getting the job done."

Asiator raised an eyebrow, his blank eyes staring unsettlingly at Vortal. "Of course, my Lord. What has to be done?" "Take 5 of your best men and attend the Gatehouse of the keep at midnight tonight. You will be let in by a traitor. When inside, destroy this warehouse, then escape as quickly as possible. That is all." Asiator smiled. "It shall be thus, Lord."

BRETONNIA

*********

The night was silent and cold, as usual. Up on the ramparts, Hans Anguille, a small-time soldier in the Bretonnian army and unwilling member of a Chaos Cult shivered as he let down a rope over the outside wall. It hit the bottom with a dull *thump*. "What was that?" called another guard. Hans made a show of peering out, then replied "Nothing." He felt the rope twist and strain as figures climbed it. As they emerged onto the wall, one turned to him. "Hans Anguille." Hans shrank back. "Y.. yes, that's me." "Ah, my dear Hans. Here, as promised, is your reward, freedom from the cult." There was the swish of a halberd, and the headless guard tumbled from the wall. The captain of the guard gazed up at the wall in confusion. There weren't any knights up there, were there? He looked closer. Oh dear.

[*[This scenario doesn't depend on points- the besieger gets 5 infantry models and a champion, the besieged gets 11 and a champion. If 2 besiegeing models touch the warehouse at the other side of the board, they torch it, and the Besiegers win. Because of the darkness, visibility is limited to 12".]*]

Turn 1: Chaos

*************

One of the halberdiers sliced the head from the shoulders of the man who let them in. The rest of the raiding part dropped from the walls, landing with a crash in the city. They split up into 2 parties, moving toward the Warehouse.

Turn 1: Bretonnia

*****************

The alarm was raised, and the archers in the city moved toward the warehouse, ready to defend it. Arrows clacked off armour as they fired. One, from his vantage point on the walls, took aim carefully and shot. With a meaty *thunk*, a Chaos Warrior toppled over, dead.

Turn 2: Chaos

*************

The halberdier on the wall charged another archer, shoving him from the top of a tower to the ground below with a horrible scream that ended with a sharp *crack* from the flagstones. The rest continued their march toward the warehouse, taking cover in houses that they smashed the doors and windows from. Screams woke even more of the city up as civlians were murdered in their beds by the slightly annoyed Chaos Warriors.

Turn 3: Bretonnia

*****************

More arrows clashed on the armour of the Warriors who strode forward through the streets. The archers continued to pull back toward the warehouse.

Turn 4: Chaos

*************

With a cry of rage, Asiator charged an archer hiding behind a door- his blows bit deeply into the wood, but none found their mark. Another warrior sliced an archer in half with his halberd. Still the advance continued.

Turn 4: Bretonnia

*****************

The archers in the gatehouse drew back to the tower, firing arrows at the determined Chaos Warrior plodding toward them. They bounced from his armour with no effect. The archer fighting Asiator took cover behind the door as the Chaos Champion rained blows down on it. A halberdier charging toward the warehouse was cut down by 3 archers.

Turn 5: Chaos

*************

Asiator, growing tired of the fight, impaled the archer he was fighting on his sword. The halberdier in the gatehouse charged the two archers shooting at him, knocking one screaming from the top of the high gatehouse with the butt of his halberd. The rest of the warriors charged into the Bretonnians, leaving only 5 alive at the end of the turn. One warrior threw his torch into the warehouse, setting the walls smouldering.

Turn 5: Bretonnia

*****************

Desperatly, the Bretonnians loosed another hail of arrows at the Chaos force. It had no effect. Another archers life was taken in combat. All was lost.

Turn 6: Chaos

*************

Asiator threw his torch through the open window of the warehouse. Flames billowed up inside. The last archer on the gates was cut down. Chaos had triumphed. RESULT

Siege equipment in the Bretonnian stonghold would now be at a premium; it's cost in the Final Assault would be doubled.

The following turn, the Bretonnians chose to make some more. They recieved 125 points worth free for their efforts.

Part 4: Undermine! follows.
