PAINTING TIPS

Well, you've come to the right place. Nobody supplies painting tips like we do.... that's because people can ask about what they do not understand. So go ahead. Read on....

Now, you wanted some painting tips? O.K, here:
1. BASE COAT!!! This one step in the miniature paintng skills is the most important. This is a necessary step, the rest are optional, yet the rest make the peice look optimal. The base coat should leave nothing grey, or whatever your undercoat colour is. Just paint everything that is on the peice and leave nothing out. Remember, there should be no spots of colour showing from the undercoat, and if you accidently colour on a different part of the miniature, do that part again. But, dont deal with the details yet. The base coat should be done with a 5/0 brush.
2. Inks --- This is an easy step. You need to buy the "Expert Paint Set" from games workshop. lets say you want to ink a guy's hair. This is one of the most common places to use inks. Just take some ink onto your brush and paint over the base coat WITH THE SAME COLOUR AS THE MAN'S HAIR. All of the inks are dark, so if the guy had red hair, just paint over the hair and the ink should go into the grooves, and it looks the miniature look shadowed. Should be done with a 5/0 brush
3. Drybrushing: this is when you go over the base coat again. First take a lighter clolour than the base coat, and wipe it off on some kitchen towel or something, so there is still some paint in the brush but you cant see it. Then brush against the grain of the place you are painting. This will give it an effect of light being on it. DO THIS WITH AN OLD BRUSH, cuz believe me, it ruins the brushes.
4. Finally paint in the details. This includes eyes, lips, etc. This should be done with a 10/0 brush.

These are many of the painting tips that I usually use. But it doesn't just work for the Empire, it works for almost anything. Hope this helps.
