Kuera & the Dorovich renegades

Brun, knowing only the cold logic of his sword in battle, decided to make a life out of being a travelling warrior: seeking conflict for his own ends: not the dismal life he had once known as a mercenary. Jaque, having fought by Brun's side over the past week, had decided to use Brun as a weapon to take back his homeland. All he needed to do was to persuade Brun that his cause was one worth fighting for.
While they rested for the next few weeks using the city of Forgal as base point, they met up with several other adventure seekers, who were passing by and in search of companionship. A tall overbearing woman named Marian, practised in illusionist magic and was trying to find ways to advance her magical powers. Marian had hoped to find magical artefacts by serving as a party spell-caster. Additionally, a street-wise adolescent from Bartertown was in search of the exciting lifestyle and riches that comes with adventuring the land. Bartertown was too small a place for Jarra. All he needed was a good sword to protect his back from the evils he might find along the way. Brun and Jaque were the solution to both of their problems.
Strangely enough, adventure found the companions as they came together one day in the markets of Forgal. Messengers from Kuera - a large town only 1 days ride to the north west - came to meet the ones who saved the city of Sooth from massive attack.
The party was offered a reward if they accompanied the messengers to Kuera and complied with their Count's requests. Count Tauros, monarch to the people of Kuera had heard news that the town of Dorovich - an allied windling settlement - had fallen to fanatic renegades, led by their powerful spiritual leader who possessed bizarre magical talents. The city of Kuera had also fallen not long after, when the windling armies of Dorovich attacked, forcing Count Tauros to take refuge underground in a cavernous escape route from his good city.
The Count needed to seize back his city from the crazed people of Dorovich, and restore the previous Mayor to power. So Brun, Jaque, Marian and Jarra, set off to Dorovich. This settlement was like a giant rose-bush covering tunnels into the ground where the civilians of Dorovich lived. The party decided to explore a nearby Kaer which they suspected led straight into the caverns of the underground city, so that they could infiltrate Dorovich internally, to find out what was really going on. They made a deal with the town of Frayu allowing them to enter their historical Kaer on the provision that they return artefacts to the surface.
When they found their way in, they discovered that the windlings of Dorovich were being led by a denizen of astral space - a demon who was using the windlings to enable it to return to this world. For now the demon depended on the power of the windlings to obtain the spell books it required.
The party left, now ready to drive off the demon enslaved windlings from Kuera. As they left the city of Dorovich through the old Kaer tunnels, they spoke with Frayu's head Chieftain. As a favour for providing the Chieftain with artefacts from their Kaer, it was agreed that he would assist them with his armies to seize back Kuera.
The party also visited the village of Sooth. Chief 'Yellowfang' of Sooth agreed to lead them in the battle with his cavalry, as the party had assisted the people of Sooth only three weeks before (see the 'Battle of Sooth').
In a bloody conflict, the armies met. The enslaved windlings were driven off and peace was restored. The party were proclaimed town heroes when Count Tauros was returned to his palace throne room. The previous Mayor of Dorovich took back his throne. Each party member received the 'key to Kuera' - a ruby crystal with Count Tauros' insignia upon it. This stone granted the characters whatever they wished in ordinary trade items from the civilians of Kuera, and gave them unlimited passage through the Kueran borders.

In addition, Jaque had fallen for the Count's daughter - princess Valuwynn. The princess and Jaque pledged to marry in a years time. However, Jaque needed to restore peace to his own families Kingdom before he could rest easy. Both Jaque and the princess, wore a ring binding them magically together so that none could betray their word without consequence. By restoring order to these cities the party became known as political allies to most of the communities in Barsaive. The Count of Kuera was a highly respected man, so his tales of the party soon became the talk of many people throughout the mainland.
