Skills

The game system differs from many role-playing systems in the way skills are implemented.
Unlike other systems where you reach a certain number of x experience points and go up a level, Dragonquest creates a character that allows the player to develop a unique individual.
In order to do this there are two types of skills, combat and profession.

Combat Skills

Combat skills refer to the character’s ability to use a weapon or shield proficiently. Each weapon is treated differently and the cost in experience points to learn the weapon and to go one and improve your skill in that weapon is reflected in the cost and the final levels you can reach.
For example: -
A club is a very basic weapon and therefore simple to learn, there are not many different ways a club and be used, this is reflected in the fact that a character can not reach a very high level of skill in it.
Whereas a longbow is harder to learn the basics but with constant practice an extreme level of skill can be reached.

Professional Skills

Professional skills on the other hand are those skills that give a character an ability to complete tasks.
These skills include such things as: -

Not all these skills may be available in the area where the adventure is set, but they are all available within the world of the game.
Players when they start can if they have the experience points and are not trained in magic take one of these skills at rank 0 at no cost.
For more detailed information about a particular skill contact the Games master who will answer all your questions.

The skills listed above are the basic list, there may or may not be other skills within the game, the players will just have to wait and see.
