The Town Of Thelonika

The Town of Thelonika is part of The Duchy of Thessonaliki, it can be found in the south of the Duchy close to the Red Mountains.
Like most of the towns within the Duchy its population consists of descendants of The Empire, the indigenous population as well as Dwarves from the Red Mountains and Elves from the Empire and those that have lived locally for hundreds of years.
There are a larger number of Drow Elves living within the town than most of the other towns of The Duchy; this is because it is the second nearest town to the Drow Regency.
There are not so many new settlers from The Empire here as most of them settle in the capital far to the North.

Geography Of Thelonika

The Town sits at the foothills of The Red Mountains, these spread out to the South and Southeast. To the East lies farm land and beyond that The Red Mountains which swing up to meet the Forest of Thelmast which covers most of the Eastern border of The Duchy.
Away to the Southwest and West lie open plains and some small woods, beyond these lies The Andiarous Sea. To the Northwest lie open grasslands, which spread over to the North and Northeast until they reach Lake Ohrid and the forest of Thelonakava.

There are three roads into Thelonika, from the Northwest, from the West and to the South.
The Northwestern road leads to the capital, Thessandria, a journey of some 95 miles.
The Western road leads to the coast and the small port town of Astakos, a distance of about 50 miles.
The final road leads to the South and The Red Mountains, this route leads across these mountains and down to The Drow Regency. If the mountains were not there the distance to the southern most towns, Thermaikos, would only be 25 miles, but unfortunately it is more like 75 miles. It is along this route that traveller would come across the Dwarfish citadel of Kharadam. This is the largest of the Dwarven settlements in The Duchy.

Although the town itself is not very large there has been a steady growth over the last few years and as such there are more buildings and halls of note.
The town now boasts it’s own Adventurers Guildhouse, as well as a small school of magic, Thespia’s School of Mage Craft
The principal building is the Magistrates Court.
There are many shops and craft houses where all sorts of goods and equipment can be purchased, these include: -

Finally there is a Militia guard post housing about 20 militia and one officer.
