Order of the Lemniscate: The first Knightly Order to make itself known in Thera was the Order of the Lemniscate. The first Knights of this Order were discovered when adventurers wandering in Dhaes Drae Aesilon found them at the Lemniscate Temple on Aesil am Boovair. Wishing to bring the Order to Northern Thera since the Knights of the Southern Continent would not allow Northern members, Hades asked the blessing of Lady Xyza, and became the First Knight of the Order of the Lemniscate. For a long time he was the only Knight of the Lemniscate. Slowly but surely, the Order grew, although it had a rocky start. One of the first Knights turned against the Lady and her branded followers, and was subsequently Forsaken. Shortly afterward, Hades was given the title Knight Emissary and with the help of Horath, third Knight of the Lemniscate, trained young squires and sent them on quests, advising the Lady of their worthiness only after extensive observation, so that never again would anyone deceive the Knights nor the Lady and work against the Order and the Religion. All Knights of the Order of the Lemniscate wear Lady Xyza's brand and are Defenders of Magic, oftentimes very aggressively so. Contrary to popular belief, they do not serve the House of Arcana, but instead answer to the Lady. The stronger Knights have taken Warder relationships with magic users (Gaijins) whose strength is not found in physical might but through the Gift of Magic.
