To lock a rocket, hold the mouse button and aim at the enemy for a long time. When you here the "locked" beep and see a red light then you can leave the fire button and the rocket will be fired. If you leave the fire button before the rocket has acquired a lock, you will need to start the entire process over again. To cancel a lock, either switch to another weapon using the F8-F11 or lock on another enemy. Note that if you change a weapon, the mouse button will be still held and the newly selected weapon will start firing. Therefore, it's better to change to another locking weapon and leave the mouse button before the newly selected weapon will acquire a lock and then you will have to change weapon again. Note that a comet can lock only on targeted targets ('T' key).
