2/26/03

This is the first posted battle between Reece and Bob, the two senior members of this MK group. Reece was the first one to get into Mage Knight, and shortly thereafter (less than a month,) he got Bob into the game as well. This was way back in September of 2001. For this battle, Bob brought to the table a variation of his "Neo-Bone Toss" strategy, including a Pyre Spirit. Reece is working on a new strategy as well, featuring "Unpredictable" figures whose dials change significantly as they take damage.

    TOTAL = 200

We don't have a picture of the terrain set-up before the game started, but Bob placed two curtain walls, and Reece placed two pieces of water terrain. For his first couple of moves, Bob set up his Bone-Toss Engine behind one of the curtain walls towards the left side of the battlefield, and Reece cautiously advanced his troops towards the same wall.

With Reece's Boarder (with one action token) dangerously close to the wall, Bob moved his Pyre Spirit into base contact with the Technomaner. When Reece Passed, Bob moved the Pyre into base with the Boarder, and then Magic Levitated it to base the Xandressan again, delivering two clicks of Ram damage to it. Reece brought his Troll Chieftan in to base the Pyre Spirit, its toughness negating all the Pyre's automatic damage special abilities. His Boarder was not immune to those abilities, though, and was taken down by a Skeleton and a Stalking Skeleton.

Bob used necromancy to bring back his Pyre Spirit, and rolled a lucky 2, keeping the Pyre at a reasonable slot. Reece's Troll Chieftain engaged the Pyre Spirit, only to have a Stalking Skeleton and a regular skeleton gang up on him. The War Hatchetkrugg, having been knocked past ram, entered the fray, and after it and the Chieftain had killed the Pyre Spirit a second time and the Krugg was knocked past ram, it disengaged.

Three of the Chieftain's attacks were dodged by the Stalking Skeleton in a row, and it was eventually worn down past its toughness by that Stalking Skeleton. Then the Rebellion Skellie started attacking (it had pushed past its weapons master slot but not to death,) and the Troll was eventually damaged so it was between its Berserk slot and its Regeneration slots. Bob immediately pushed his Stalking Skeleton to capture it, because he knew that although he would be sacrificing dodge, he would retain quickness, which would greatly aid him dragging that Troll Chieftain back to his starting area. Meanwhile, despite all his efforts, Bob just could not kill the War Hatchetkrugg. He tried to capture it too, but could not make the rolls. He tried breaking away and shooting it with the healthy Technomancer, but that didn't work either. Finally, he took the Krugg head-on.

The final turn had Bob killing the War Hatchetkrugg and demoralizing the remaining Crystal Protector.

WINNER: Bob
