So you are wondering how the DC is coming along eh?  We'll aren't you in luck, because we wrote this brand new editorial just for you.  Read on...

DC JAPAN: Despite a Slow start sales are picking up for the DC with the release of some killer titles.

Sluggish Start: Why was it sluggish you may ask? Simple, Sega was definitely NOT READY FOR THE LAUNCH.   First of all, the launch was delayed a week from the planned date, and then there were rumors that NEC was behind in production and that there would be a shortage of units.   In addition to that, some of Sega's key launch titles were delayed, and things were seriously not looking good.  BUT, there was a good reason for the hurried launch.   If you've been keeping up with financial reports from Sega, you would've figured out that SEGA WAS CLOSE TO BEING BROKE.  Why you ask? Well, besides the obvious Saturn fiasco, Sega's arcade business wasn't exactly going well either, especially with all the financial problems that Japan is having right now.  With all this chaos at Sega, they had no choice but to launch it, in my opinion of course.

What Arcade Perfect games??: The first batch of games weren't exactly as arcade perfect as we expected them to be.  However, there are some reason's for that.  Let's take Sonic Adventure for example.  Everbody knows that even though it was a great game, it still wasn't as "perfect" as people wanted it to be.  There were polygon pop-ups and so on.   The reason for that is that the game was developed before the system was finalized, so it could not take advantage of DC's power.  Same deal with Sega Rally 2.  We don't know if this could've been avoided, but considering Sega's situation, I'd have to say that they needed to do what they did.

"And in this cornor, the Arcade Perfect games..": Starting at the end of the last month, DC sales and game quality has seriously picked up.  With Arcade perfect conversions of House of the Dead 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom, and Blue Stinger, and Powerstone, the quality of the games has just kept on increasing.

A bright future: Finally, we can say that Japan has seen nothing yet.  With awesome games being developed right now, we could see some of the best games of all time in coming months.  Here are some of the Very promising games being developed in Japan.

Game Developer
Grandia 2 Game Arts
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Capcom
Shenmue Sega
Soul Caliber Namco
Dead or Alive 2 Tecmo
Shenmue Sega

and many many more...

DC USA:  Sega gears up for a huge comeback with a killer system and killer games.

A step in the right direction!:  We'll, if you haven't read our news article about the official DC announcements yet, go read them here.  But if you are too lazy, read on.   As expected SoA announced the DC for a launch price of $199 with a 56.6k modem.   This is definitely good, since that is where people wanted the price to be at.   Also, there are a whole slew of AWESOME release titles heading here with the launch.  These include an improved Sonic, an improved VF3tb, House of the Dead2, and so on.  The only problem I see for the gamers with such good games coming is finding the money to pay for all those games (that's the problem for me anyway.)  Also, rumors suggest that Sega is considering the Online aspect of the DC vital.  Official details will be released at the E3, so stay tuned for that.  Overall, the DC is looking more and more promising everyday, and that is a very good news for all the loyal Sega fans who are waiting for Sega's redemption.

US Titles to watch for:

Game Developer
Sonic Adventure Sega
House of the Dead 2 Sega
Marvel Vs. Capcom Capcom
Soul Caliber Namco
Shenmue Sega
