The mother of all Horror games heads to the DC

Resident Evil: Code Veronica

Although the game was only featured on video, you can tell that this game is not only staying true to the attitude and atmosphere of the original, but should improve upon the classic model in many ways. Most noticeably revamped are the game's visuals, which no longer feature pre-rendered backgrounds, but rather have gone the route of real-time polygonal environments, which should allow for a higher degree of interaction and realism. We noticed, for instance, a sequence where a zombie attacks your character. When she fights him off, he hits a lamp that hangs from the ceiling, which then proceeds to swing back and fourth, and the lamp actually casts a real-time light on the man-munching assailant. Truly astonishing.

From what we can tell, it looks like we will be seeing a wide variety of enemies in this version. There're some old favorites such as the hunter and giant spiders (which, by the way, are unbelievably creepy), and some new creatures that are so inhuman, mere words will not do them justice. Hopefully, we will be able to get you footage in the near future, but as of yet, Capcom was unable to comment on when we'd get our zombie-lovin' mits on a playable. But rest assured, we'll be back with all the glamour and gore you can handle as soon as we do.
