"Blood and Wine" was a box-office failure but there was a side benefit for Stephen Dorff -- making a friend of Jack Nicholson. Dorff says Nicholson even came to the 25th birthday party that he threw himself recently. "He's a dear friend ... such a loyal man," Dorff, 25, told the New York Post. "He's given me so much good advice. I care a lot about him. He's not only my hero but I admire Jack in a way I don't admire most people ... For me, people like Jack make all the stress and craziness of the business worthwhile." Dorff's latest film is the big-budget vampire flick "Blade."

Appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Dorff chats about his 25th birthday party. "I said... ok I'm 25, (you know) obviously I don't have a girlfriend at the time, nobody's having a big suprise party for me... so I'm kinda (you know) alone and getting ready for Blade to come out and (you know) kinda excited...so I figured ok a quarter of a century I've got to have a big... a big celebration so I invited everybody I've worked with, friends of mine that aren't in the business and I didn't know if Jack was going to make it..."
