- He is your starting character, he can fight and kick ass just as well as the real Chinese martial art master Wong Fei Hon.(Trust me, he's very good - He seems to be where Fei got his name from also.) His fists and kicks are anything but friendly, he can launch something similiar to the famous move "No Shadow Kick" of Wong Fei Hon.
He uses an inner mental strength called Chi (Sounds like Tai Chi", it's a type of Chinese Martial art that requires little force but results high damage) instead of magic (ether). This chi can be use for attacking and healing. Once in his gear Weltall (a huge mech.) , he can be your number one guy you would choose to fight.

- She is a high commander of the Solaris Army, later on, ex-commander of the Solaris Army. She will definitely play a role of romance for this story, as well as attracting game players to buy the game,....just kidding. The love of Elly and "him" gets very interesting as this complex story slowly reveals her hidden past.
Her choice of weapon is a light rod for both herself and her gear Vierge. Although few is known about her in the beginning, she does have the same memory corruption problem as Fei's and did kill people unintentionally in her past.
An eye-patched pirate he is, "He's a man of the seas, Ha Ha" This pirate, however, never stole from civilians, he is nothing like a pirate. His nickname is simply Bart. Bart's a happy fellow unlike most pirates we know......., he brings along the humor that is needed to balance out the seriousness of the story of Xenogears. But don't you be joking around when you fight him, he's gonna sign a few signatures on your body with his powerful whip. His gear, Brigandier is also equiped with a whip which is attached to its wrist.
Her name resembles her hair, a pretty girl she is. Emeralda is a mysterious character, her hidden face shows the age of a child, her ability to drive the lightest and fastest gear Crescens is astonishing.
When she fights without Crescens, she have the ability to morph into anything that will inflict damage to the enemy........she can morph her whole body into a giant hammer, a giant needle, etc. - very amusing. She's one of my favorite characters. She will not get involved with the story of Xenogears until late in the game.

Citan, Uzuki:
The longest ally in the team, he has a mind that understands everything thats around him. Citan and Fei have been through all kinds of adventures together. Although he's smart, that doesn't make him a physically defenseless person, he can fight almost as well as Fei. He uses a gear call Heimdal. Later when Citan is determined to fight, he'll become the strongest character as he weilds his ancient sword that he vowed not to use. Citan is hiding his past though, his secret is one of the things that kept Xenogears an interesting and mysterious story.
Billy, a young man that has a heart of a holy priest, believes in killing Wels (Zombies) and cleanse the world from evil. With a set of guns he constructed, he journeys alone across the continents and carries on this mission. He had a horrible past, his mother was killed by 3 Wels when he was 12; Luckily, a priest name Stone saved him from being their next victim. Now he swears to help Stone and cleanse the world from Wels infestation. ..........But, the story of Xenogears reveal something truly unpredictable later on.
Rico, half mutant and half human with the strength of steel. He met Fei in the Nortune jail, which was also known as Rico's kingdom. It wasn't a friendly meeting as we all know how the jail functions, Fei had to fight Rico and his gang before Rico and all the other jailers acknowledged Fei's existence.......which reminds me, Did anyone ever beat Rico in the Nortune jail???.
The collar that you see Rico wearing now, is not the latest style at that time, but is a self-destruct device preventing jail escapes. Later on, after a few misunderstandings, he joins Fei and escapes with him; Knowing that staying in jail would not help him understand his past and how he became a mutant. Rico pilots the second heaviest gear, Stier.
Maria:
She appeared late in the game, she is the top general of the city Shevet (Enemy of the Solaris empire). The gear she uses, Seibzhen, is definitely one of the most powerful, and amazingly the heaviest despite her size and age; However, Maria is the only character that cannot fight (or inflicts very weak attacks) without her gear. She have been sucessfully defending Shevat from Solaris attacks many times. When Fei and his teammates finally reaches Shevat, another Shevat attack from Solaris coincidentally took place. This attack on Shevat, unlike all others before, revealed something very important to her.
An animal, as a Xenogears character?, sure, why not. I mean a "Mog/Umaro" was in FF3 and a "Cait Sith/Red XIII" was in FF7. Chu-Chu has the abiltiy to expand her size similiar to a gear allowing her to fight along side with Fei and his allies. Chu-Chu is the only one that DOESN'T require you to spend money on gear maintenance, she strengthens as she levels up.
