~ MYSTERY QUESTION 2 ~ This question is simple yet difficult, here it is: What does the introduction really mean? (Hey, even though someone submitted a true answer, I still want your opinions here!)

My friend's brother works at SquareSoft in Japan, and he worked with the story writers. Answer By Steve Froeber on 4/17/00 - Okay, over 10,000 years ago an (I'm assuming) earth civilization was having a civil war. Earth created a weapon that was so powerful it could wipe out anything...DEUS. But this weapon was too powerful so they put it on a passenger ship without anyone knowing about it (except the captain). Since Deus is biogenetically engineered, it contains enough material to hold millions of DNA codes. When the Eldridge self destructed Deus was not destroyed. Deus then created Miang. She was supposed to create a race to eventually revive Deus. Miang then created the Zeboim Civilization (see lighthouse at the end of the game) because Miang and Deus were new at creating life they messed up. This Civilization had some genetic deformities.

Now let me take a side track... If you have gotten far you know about a thing called the essence. The essence made Fei and Elly to

1. Always be together
2. Destroy Deus

Fei and Elly have been in existence for many generations with many different bodies. (the first generation seen is in the captain's picture of Elly) When Miang created the Zeboim Civilization, the essence (which is more powerful than Deus) created Fei and Elly as "Kim" and "Elly". Kim was a genetic engineer. Elly found out that she was flawed and couldn't have children.(again see the lighthouse). Because they wanted to have a child that would be perfect and fulfill their dreams, Kim created Emeralda. Then Kim was killed. Okay now back to the other...

Because the Zeboim civilization was

1.genetically flawed
2. Not fulfilling their purpose of reviving Deus

Miang and Deus decided to destroy the civ. Only the very strong people survived. Then when Miang started over she created Cain and the Gazel ministry. This brings us to the more current generations with Lacan and Fei. This explains why Emeralda says "KIM, Kim!" to Fei when you awake her. Kim created her so the future "incarnation" of himself would have Emeralda. This is what I gleaned from the game but I could be wrong

Answer By Iczer6 on 3/15/00 - Basically the first humans were not nice people. They were planet conquers. They built an incredible weapon they called Deus. Unfortunately whatever power source they were using wasn't enough to power Deus so they created Zohar. Zohar was Deus batteries or engine if you will. Unfortunately when they activated Deus they essentially ended up trapping God. I don't believe this was their intent. It was a mistake. Deus became sentient and turned on the people killing nearly all of them. However realizing it needed humans to revive it created Miang or Eve to give birth to the human race. Basically Miang and Elly are two sides of the same coin. Miang wants to force humanity to evolve. Much like Moms must occasionally force their children out of the nest. Or to do difficult things to help them grow. Elly however chooses to nurture her children. Her intent is to help them find their own way without forcing or abandoning them. Eventually they become one because both are equally right. I assume the blue-haired woman at the opening movie is made up of the captains DNA and Deus. Elly like Fei is a direct descended for the Eldridge. I may be totally off here but I think I'm right.

Answer By rpgguy on 1/21/00 - as I understand it, an advanced space-capable civilisation of humanbeings created Deus, imbuing it with a creature from another dimensioncalled the Wave Existence. They realised that Deus was too powerful,however, and shipped it off on the Eldridge. Unfortunately, Deusrealised what was happening, and began tearing up the joint, so tospeak, until the captain turned on autodestruct.

The ship crash-landed on another planet, and there was a singlesurvivorof the crash, the first incarnation of Fei, and the Wave Existence,wanting to be free of the Zohar engine, gave him its power so that'Fei'could possibly destroy Deus and free the Wave Existence. The W.E. alsocreated a woman, whose name was Elly, in the image of 'Fei''s mother. this perhaps explains the resemblance to Elly in the captain's locket. It seems to me that the captain is the first Fei's father, or somerelative. Although why he would not be in the photo, is a question I don't know the answer to.

At any rate, Deus didn't want to be destroyed, which is what would becaused by the W.E. leaving the Zohar engine, so Deus created the firsthuman beings other than the first Elly. These included Miang and Cain. Miang has a freaky gene, apparently, that allows her to reincarnateherself, presumbably with all past memories, into the body of anywoman,upon death. Deus apparently instructed these folks to protect him andsomeday bring him back to full strength.

This essentially also explains the opposing forces in the game proper;Solaris is composed of those who are descended from, are in fact thesame as, or are working for, the original creations of Deus. Hencetheyare striving to protect and revive him. Meanwhile, Fei is compelled todestroy Deus because, well, that's what the Wave Existence created he,and Elly, to do. This also helps to explain Elly's fourth incarnation(Sophia)'s opposition to Deus.

Answer By Evaunit01 on 9/20/99 - The ship that gets destroyed is carrying Deus. Deus sees the near by planet knowing that life could grow there and destroys the ship causing it to crash. Once there Deus created Miang (the girl ast the end of the intro) to create life and then resurect Deus. This is what Krellian was trying to do.

Answer By XxenogearZ on 8/13/99 - Tens of thousands of years ago Earth was in an apocolypse. Even though technology was the best it could get, It still could not stop the Earth from being destroyed. In this age of time we were the closest we could get to meeting God, so close that we made a God like being. This being was named 'Deus' and even though it was a technology marvel, it was too powerful. So man locked this supreme being away.

Later it found away to escape and it killed millions of lives, we had no choice but to but to lock it up again. We knew this would not last forever , so we had to move it to a undeveloped planet. Using a huge ship called the Eldridge We were going to trannsport it to a more far away planet ,thinking that Deus would not wake up for another hundred years....we were wrong.

Deus woke up and angry as ever, because his body was rotting from years of damage. He took over the Eldrige and killed many of the crew. The captain of the Eldridge first called for evacution of the massive ship, but Deus used the ships own weapons to destroy the escape pods. Fearing for other planets, The captain used his privite self-destuct mechanism.

The remains of the Eldridge landed on a very small planet called 'Ignas'(this planet was almost as big as the Eldridge itself!). Hopefully Deus was dead, but sadly it was not. It survived very badly injured and unable to move. It had no chouce but to creat a new life-form.

There on Ignas, Dues created human-kind on this small planet. She was stunning, and had two personalities. One standed for power and destruction, and her name was Miang. The other standed for love and peace and her name was Elhaym(Elly). There they were one but later they seperated. This was the 'Begining of a New Era', The Beginning and the End.

(note: remember the laser cannons that destroyed the escape pods. Dont you think those things look similar to Roni Fantama's hidden fortress? Well When Roni was exploring the remains of the Eldrige he used the remains of the Laser cannon to create a Battle Fortress. That just goes to show you how BIG the Eldrige was.)

An opinion by wongfeifong on 6/29/99 - I think that Elly existed before the shipwreck on that planet because the photo in the ship's captain's watch looks awfully like her. So if that's true - After the shipwreck, I think Deus created the first person OR better known as Miang whom probably was Elly (That's what I am really unsure about, was the purple hair girl Elly and Miang combined??).

Well, as the story ends, Elly and Miang finally combined back together again after thounsands of years thus completed the whole process. This is very confusing, but I think the "combining of Elly and Miang" was really a big thing in the Xenogears plot.

Answer By SSJGokan on 6/25/99 - The introduction video sequence shows how humans came to be on Earth. A colony ship, which was headed to some unknown location, was also transporting Deus to a containment facility, where it would be destroyed. Unfortunately, Deus managed to escape it's containment on the ship and began to take control over the ships systems.

Unfortunately, Deus could not be subdued. Therefore, the captain of the ship activated the autodestruct sequence, which was indepentant of all other systems, which prevented Deus from compromising it. After the ship crashed, Deus, while barely alive, had the first Miang created. That is the woman you see in the video. This creature was created to watch over the humans and "guide" them towards the direction of reviving Deus so Deus could take revenge on the humans that origionally created, then attempted to destroy, him.

HMMMM....THAT'S A TUFFY...WELL MY THEORY IS THAT AN ADVANCED CIVILIZATION, THE ANCESTORS OF HUMANS, SENT A COLONY SHIP OUT,THE ELDRIGE, TO TRANSPORT PEOPLE TO ANOTHER COLONY. BUT THE ELDRIGE HAD A SECRET CARGO, A MILITARY WEAPON OF IMMENSE POWER KNOWN AS DEUS. THIS WEAPON WAS CAPABLE OF THOUGHT AND POSSESSED OF HIGHLY ADVANCED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGANCE. IT'S MAIN PROGRAMMING WAS TO BE USED AS A TOOL TO INVADE AND DESTROY OTHER PLANETS ALL BY ITSELF SO THAT THE POEPLE WHO CREATED IT WOULDN'T HAVE TO LIFT A FINGER OR SEND IN THEIR OWN PEOPLE. DEUS WOULD DO ALL THE WORK FOR THEM. BECUASE THIS WEAPON WAS SO POWERFUL THEY HAD TO FIND A POWER THAT COULD CONTROL IT AND THIS POWER WAS THE ZOHAR MODIFIER. WHAT THE CREATORS DIDN'T RELIZE WAS THAT THE ZOHAR MODIFIER ITSELF HAD AN INTELLEGINCE BEHIND IT. WHEN THE ZOHAR MODIFIER WAS CREATED, IT SOMEHOW PULLED IN THIS BEING FROM ANOTHER "HIGHER LEVEL OF EXISTENCE". SOMETHING HORRIBLE WENT WRONG ABOARD THE ELDRIGE AND DEUS BROKE FREE OF ZOHAR. MAYBE ZOHAR LET DEUS FREE AND THE TWO SYSTEMS FORMED SOME KIND OF ALLIANCE SO THEY CAN BOTH BE FREE OF CONTROL? MAYBE DEUS BROKE FREE OF ZOHAR? ZOHAR CREATES A PERSON FOR HIM BECUASE (?) MAYBE IT FELT PITY FOR HIM BEING THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THE CRASH? ELLY WAS THE PERSON ZOHAR CREATED. MAYBE ZOHAR MODIFIED ABEL SO HE COULD BE REBORN LIKE ELLY? OR ZOHAR WANTED TO CREATE PEOPLE WHO WOULD HELP RESURRECT IT IN THE FUTURE AND HELP IT RETURN TO THE HIGHER LEVEL OF EXISTENCE. I'M CONFUSING MYSELFF,GAAAAAAHHH!!! ANYWAYS, MIANG CREATES CAIN (BY HERSELF?) AND THEN THE GAZEL MINISTRY.
