Harvest Moon Super Nintendo

This game was the start of the Harvest moon games. Beware unlike the N64 version there are some annoying things. For instance you have no backpack so you can carry only two tools which means constant trips to the tool shed and you can only hold one non crop at a time.

Information about game and tips

-Information about game-
-First of all this game runs in seasons not months but has as many days as a normal month.
-To sleep write in you're dairy near your bed. This also saves the game.
-You should watch TV every day to tell if it will rain or to see other weather conditions.
Tips-
-You should start going after the girl you like early in the game.
-To prevent you from taking up more time from having to walk down the mountain path you can press the run button and jump down the levels.
-If you plant Spring crops and they go into the Summer time you could still grow them. But for any other season crop you can not do that.
-Time does not pass in buildings except for the caves or underground areas. (Where Harvest Sprites live)
-The day goes by rather fast so don't waste time and run almost all the time but do not go to quickly and be careless by missing the shipping bin with your crops.

-Even when you run out of energy you can still lift and throw things.
-If your dog barks then a piece of fence is broken.
-Water your crops at night and do other things during the day like shipping and dating.

The Start

You start put by being able to pick your name and then you go to the village to meet everyone. You need to get all the tools and talk with every one to be able to leave the village. You can get the watering can at the Flower Shop and the man at the ranch will give you grass. Later you will go home and sleep and when you wake up you will get a dog. Visit the fortuneteller and look at her books that are very good for helping you out. You start out with 300G so buy some seeds and plant them to start getting money but at the start it is good to find items in the mountains off to the right of your farm. You can put them in the shipping bin.

Playing the game

You should start by clearing a part of your land near the shipping crate. Putting rocks in the pond saves you from losing any energy but it may take more time. In this game you have a certain amount of energy and the more sleep you get the more energy you have. You can get sick if you work to hard often and it is very easy to get sick when it is raining. Cutting wood allows you to make fences and improvement on your house. Also going in the spring that is near the top of the mountain (not the season), buying cakes, and eating some things in the mountain like the Berry of Wild Grape will give you some energy. You can cut wood in your yard until you run out. You can also cut wood in the mountains outside your farm. If you move when cutting wood or a rock you will have to start over. (If you hit a stump 5 times but you move it will go back to hitting it zero times. Not counting a movement the game will make if you get tired.) A stump takes six hits to break up with an axe, a big rock takes 6 hits, and a small rock takes one hit with a hammer with the tools you start with. (later your tools will be made stronger). Other tools you have are the hoe, which you use to get your land ready to plant crops and the sickle, which cuts grass. When you use the hoe if a mole comes up or you find a mole put it outside your fence because they bother cows sometimes. You can throw weeds to get ride of them. To get some extra money find things in the mountain and put them in the shipping bin. If you ship goods at night after the man picks up the goods they will go bad even if you put them in the shipping bin. The peddler that comes on Sunday will buy things like berries off you for more money than the shipper. Put the things you find on the table. If you put the crops in you will get the money the next morning you wake up. You can not ship flowers, animals, cakes, and other goods like that.
When you plant crops you must leave room on each side to water it so some crops are not left out . You can design your crops in these 2 shapes for the best results. (3 by 3)

The water you use to fill the watering can is the water from the small ponds in your farm. If it rains you do not have to water your plants unless you plant your crops on that day. Make sure not to plant too many crops or you will have no time to your self. If you want to remove any crops in a certain area use the sickle. You can not water the middle plant because it is blocked off in till a space opens for you to water it.

The Town

It is good to visit the bar because you can often get information from others their and it is open at night so it is convent for you. Also visit the stores to pick up goods and attend every festival. Also don't forget to talk to your girlfriend often.

Animals Care

First of all you have to have enough food (fodder or grass) for the animal you plan to buy or you will not be able to buy it. Watch TV so you will know when to take your animals in their stalls so they won't get sick or even die because of bad weather. You must surround your animals with a fence. If you let them out and a piece is broken the cows get scared and your chickens may get eaten by the wild dogs. If the fence is broken then hit it with a hammer and get a new fence piece to replace it. You also you should take good care animals by not leaving him in the rain and bad weather. Your animals can get sick, be unhappy, or even die from a hurricane. If a cow gets sick you have to give it medicine or it will die. It doesn’t matter if you leave your dog out. Brush your cows and talk to them every day to help them be happy, and produce better milk. Once your cow grows up milk it once per day. You have to feed your animals every day with grass unless you let them out into the yard where grass is fully-grown. You get the food from the grass you cut, (with the sickle) which turns into fodder, which you take from the chicken coop or the cow barn. To feed cows you should put the food in any stall and for chickens you can place food anywhere on that long wood area in the back. You need one piece of food for each cow or chicken and remember to feed your animals everyday!

Girls

Nina- pink hair and lives at the Flower Shop - loves to receive cakes
Maria-is often at the church or around it. Goes to the Sunday Mass every week.
Ann- red hair girl who lives in the tool shop and makes tools.
Ellen- works at the restaurant but is often near the tool shop
Eve-works at the bar at night and has blonde hair. She is often near the spring near the top of the mountain.

Girlfriends and Marriage

You should peruse your girlfriend early in the game by talking to her everyday, giving her gifts, and by going to festivals and dancing with her. You can give her flowers or other things you might find for free in the mountain. Also try giving cakes too and other gifts to find out what she likes. You can check the level that she likes by looking in her dairy. The more hearts in the dairy the more she likes you. To get married she will need to like you a lot and you must make a house improvement. To propose to her you need to buy a blue feather from the peddler who comes out only on Sunday and has a little table to sell items. Once you are married you should go to bed early to make her happy. To have kids you will need another house improvement and to treat her nice.

Happily ever after!

Now you have worked to bring back your farm and may even be married. You can continue on to play to try to become even richer and can try to make all house improvements on your house. Once married you could even have kids! So have fun and play Harvest Moon!
