| Tom has been a leading pioneer when it comes the the now popular idea of grouping several buildings on a single SC2000 tile to achieve a more URban appearance in Sim Cities, than if placed one per tile like the game was designed. Tom really started this idea with his mostly complete tile set, titled the Sao Paulo (Sampa)set. His latest addition to this set has won him this, his third Hall of Fame award. Perhaps Tom shares his thinking best in the quotes I have taken from his comments about the image when he posted it on the SC3000/SC2000 Forum. " I'm back to doing Sao Paulo (Sampa) buildings, I haven't done anything for my Sampa tile set in months. So here's my latest tile, it's a cluster of Art Deco-type buildings from the heart of the downtown area. Yes, there actually is a building (a bank actually) with a jungle garden on the roof:" "The 'horned' skyscraper on this tile actually started out as a BAt attempt (it's pretty bloc ky with simple windows, I figured it would be a good candidate) but I got so frustrated with all the BAt limitations that I said, "The heck with this, I can draw it in 15 minutes in SCURK!"..and I did, although maybe in 20-30 mins."...... "As for the little triangular building,"...It's got cast-iron facades and a red-clay tile roof."... The building I drew (from a photo...all the buildings in my Sampa set are from real life) just has columns. balconies, and windows" OK Tom, Lets see some more like this........ |
