Harvest Moon for Game Boy and Game Boy Color

Note for GBC game only:If you can not get your tools back from the Harvest Sprites when they were supposed to fix them this is because you are using the emulation version. Since you are using the emulation version the time function does not work in the normal way so you will not get your tools back.

For these games you can not get married and can not have a relationship with dating. Mostly you just go working and building up your farm. You can trade animals if you have the game boy link cable. Just go up to your phone to activate it. (the phone in the game that is in your house)

Story Line:
You have received your farm from a spirit who has chosen you to rebuild and make the farm successful. You can have a cat or dog and be a boy or girl. Your job is to rebuild your farm and make it successful so when the spirit comes back he will be happy. Your goal is to be a Ranch Master.

The Game:
Start out by checking in the drawer next to your bed. You will find 1,000Gold. On your table will be a paper that will tell you how much food and drink you have. It will also give information about your animals like the size of milk your cow gives and if it is happy or not. Watching TV every day is very important since it will tell you what the weather will be for the next day. You can check the calendar to see what day it is. To save the game you have to go to sleep.
Start out by clearing out some of your land by the shipping bin and then buying some crops. I would not buy animals yet. Do not ship crops after 5pm (after the shipper man comes) or you will not get the money for them. It is very good to visit the harvest sprite every day and give them mushrooms (you should give a mushroom to the first Harvest Sprite that is right near the mushrooms). In the cave there are mushrooms which will grow every day. (You can get to the cave by going through the door at the end of your tool shed) You can ship them if you want the money. If your are nice to the Harvest Sprites they will be nice to you. They will fix your tools but they will not fix them if you say they are not sharp. Say that they are fine (something around there) when they ask you this. (You get to choose between the two answers) and when you do they will take a tool to be fixed. If you want to save time you can run around. You have only have so much time to do your chores.
To plant your crops you will need to use the hoe to get your soil ready. The seeds will only be planted where you prepare the soil with the hoe. Now that you have your crops you can plant them and prepared the land you can plant the crops. You must water them every day.
Your crops will die when the season ends because the crops can only be grown in that season so plan when to plant your crops. Try to plant your crops near the shipping bin so you will not have to take long walks to it for each crop you ship. Buy the sprinkler when it is available since it will have lots of time and you do not have to refill the sprinkler with water. Once you get more money you can buy animals. Before you buy them you need to have fodder (food/grass) for them to eat. Planting grass and cutting it when it is fully-grown is the best way to get fodder. Grass seeds never die so once you buy them you don't have to replace them. In the winter you can not grow grass so you must save up your fodder. If you need fooder you can buy it from the man who works at the animal shop but will cost you lots of money. Start with a chicken since they are cheaper if you don't have the money for a cow. Chickens only need to be feeded and can not to be brushed or taken for a walk. Also increasing the amount of chickens you have is easier. You just have to put an egg in the incubator. When you get a cow buy it a brush from the tool shop and later get a milkier when it grows up. You will find young horse during the game. When the horse grows up you can buy a saddlebag which allows you to ship crops by putting the crops right in the horse.

Animal Care and information:
You should take good care of your animals. Brushing your cows, take it for a walk, and talk to your cows to have the cow give you better milk and be happier. To walk the cow bring it to the door of the cow barn with your bell you have. Then push the cow out the door and he will go for a walk with you. You can milk your cows when they become and adult. You also will get a horse too but it does not require any care. If you want more cows you can give them magic potion (m. potion) to make them have a baby when they are ready. To get more chickens just put an egg you get from a full grown chicken in the area next to the sign that says place "to hatch eggs". If your cow gets sick you must give it medicine or it can die. The better care you take of your cows the more money you can get if you sell the cows.

Town, stores, and the cave:
You can go to the town to get food, drinks, tools, and more. I suggest taking trips to the church where you can pray or get your fortune told. Always have food and drinks because that will supply you with the energy you need to do your work. Go in the spring (in the cave) to regain some energy.

Tools:
Sickle- cut grass with this (half circle shape)
Hammer- used to break rocks
Hoe- used to get your soil ready to plant crops
Axe- used to cut stumps for wood
Watering Can- used to water your crops
Pickax-can cut an area in the cave where the Harvest Sprites live.
