Pet Sematary 2
Review
It has been a long time since I've seen this one, but I remember enough to give this movie the review it deserves : a quickie. Because this sequel surely is a below-standard horror fare.
A boy loses his mother in an accident and after this he moves to the town where the famous Pet Sematary is (from the far superior first movie). He becomes the friend of an overweight kid whose wicked stepfather Gus will prove to be a 100% asshole... before and after death.
The cast itself is nice (with Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards and Clancy Brown) but the acting is mediocre. This sequel has nothing to do with the previous movie, but you can guess what will happen with a sematary where dead pets come back alive when you bury a wicked stepfather... No surprises, no spectacular gore, no originality of course. Luckily, Furlong's friend dies, so at least some dramatic tension is in it.
As a movie on a Sunday afternoon when you don't have anything else to do, this might be a contender. But experienced horror lovers may fall asleep. And I'm not goin to see it ever again.
Did you know...
* Mary Lambert is the director of this one. She also directed the much better Pet Sematary ( surely because it's based on the great Stephen King story) and Double Switch, a SEGA Mega CD adventure game with Corey Haim and Debbie Harry (female singer from Blondie). What a career!! :)
