Text Box: The fund for the construction of the Buhi-Malinao Road amounting to some Php 30 Million has already been released through the DPWH regional office.   This was bared from the letter of Regional Director Orlando Roces of DPWH Region 5 to Mayor Diones N. Belza with the information that the construction work has already under contract with GCI Construction.   The Buhi-Malinao road project was the primary issue floated during the election campaign period in the municipality with the group of Congressman Alfelor politically capitalizing on it with their own version of the project which they renamed Boncodin Highway to honor the father of Secretary Emilia Boncodin obviously to facilitate the project funding.   Records will show, however, that the Buhi-Malinao Road was the route mutually agreed upon by the towns of Buhi and Malinao on the way to Tabaco City with even the Sangguniang Bayans of both municipalities convening together purposely to scout for funds to realize its construction.   The program of work released by the DPWH officially named the project as the Buhi-Malinao road project which was a vindication of the claims of Mayor Diones N. Belza on the truth about the said road project. The so-called Boncodin Highway advanced by the group of Congressman Alfelor was therefore negated with the indication of the true title of the project.   Meanwhile, it was learned that the construction of the Buhi-Malinao road project was contracted for 210 calendar days starting March 25, 2004.
