Text Box: The newest park in the municipality, the Nakabuhi Park had its blessing and inauguration May 1, 2004.

The park which was constructed from the Municipal Development Fund of the local government was a tribute to the first settlers of the municipality who fled the wrath of Mayor Volcano in the 1600s. Nakabuhi in dialect means fled and its contraction in the passing years led to the name of the municipality now which is BUHI.

Mayor Diones N. Belza said that the park is also intended as another tourist potential stop-over when visiting Buhi particularly Lake Buhi and its famous fish tenant, tabios, the smallest edible fish in the world.

The Mayor bared that as part of the expansion of the Nakabuhi Park in the future, he plans to acquire the adjoining site of the park for playground purposes. He envisioned the park to be one of the major parks in the municipality where the townspeople can rest and relax after a had day's work. The park is located in barangay San Jose Baybayon at the Mananga side.

The unveiling of the Nakbuhi statue was made by Mayor Diones N. Belza, Vice-Mayor Tony Olaņo and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan with the blessing performed by Fr. Noe Badiola of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church.

Vice Governor Imelda Papin guested in the occasion where she pledged further support for the improvement of the park such as putting up of a museum alongside it if and when she gets elected as the next Congresswoman of the 4th district of the province.

Barangay Captain Sonny Alcantara of San Jose Baybayon welcomed the guests and visitors while Kagawad Theo Ruben Caņeba gave the closing remarks as the chairman of the SB committee on culture, arts and information.

The program also featured former Vice-Mayor Ben Saez as narrator of the historic events when the first settlers fled from Daraga, Albay during the eruption of Mayor Volcano and initially settled in San Vicente Buraburan and finally Marayag which was near Lake Buhi. They were the first Buhinons.
