Text Box: The winners in the recently-concluded political exercise in the municipality were officially proclaimed by the COMELEC May 14, 2004.

The Municipal Board of Canvassers which convened from May 11 to 13 to officially tally the results of the election confirmed with finality the winning candidates of the election contest.

Heading the proclaimed winners was re-elected Mayor Diones N. Belza who is now on his third term as the town executive. His new vice mayor is Hon. Rey Lacoste with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Hon. Ramon Nonato, Omar M. Mercurio, Margarita Moran-Aguinillo, Antonio T. Olaņo, Henry T. San Antonio, Zaldy N. Arcilla, Edwin C. Salvamante and Alfonso B. Repatacodo. Of the members elected, Aguinillo and Repatacodo belonged to Mayor Belza's opposing party.

Meanwhile, it was learned that the ninth winner, Laureano Rosana has lodged his election contest before the Municipal Trial Court because of the one-vote difference between him and the eight winner, Repatacodo. He alleged that his (Rosana) votes in barangay Iraya was improperly counted. Both Repatacodo and Rosana belonged to the opposition.
