He started his career with the Saddlers as a trainee, turning professional in 1996. He came to the fore for the Midlands club in the 1999/2000 season topping their scoring charts with eleven goals. He got a couple of goals in the Wanderers pre season game at Accrington, but was sidelined for the first three games due to suspension.
