Very intellegent, lively little dogs that are generally not nervous or yappy. They excel in showing, agility and obedience trails. Wonderful silky coats with no undercoat, so there is a minimal of shedding. Friendly, loving and very easy to train with a strong desire to please. Papillons have also been used for therapy, hearing impaired and tracking. Average height 8" - 12" at the shoulder blade weighting 3 and 9 pounds. (11" is a fault and 12" disqualification in the show ring) Papillons come in all sorts of color and markings each being it's own unique pattern. For the show ring, they are always parti-color or white with patches of colors of black, tan, red, tricolor, sable and orange. Color should extend over both eyes and ears or it is considered mis-marked. A symmetrical white blaze and noseband are preferred on the face but not essential for winning. |
