ANYTHING NOT COVERED BY THE FOLLOWING RULES MUST BE CHECKED WITH TIOGA MOTORSPORTS OFFICIALS BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Rules

1. COMPETING MODELS
A. Open to all two or four door North American-made steel bodied passenger cars from 1965 or newer with 108 inch wheel base minimum and 112 inch wheel base maximum. Cars NOT allowed: Pony, Sports, Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs or Station wagons. Sub-frame or uniframe chassis NOT allowed.

B. Car body and overall appearance must retain all stock dimensions. Altered body lines will be significant reason for disqualification. The body may NOT be lowered on the frame. The body must be mounted on the original factory stock location in relation to the frame. All body components must remain year and model to the rest of the car. NO REAR SPOILERS. Stock dimension windshield pillars must be retained. Windshield pillars and windshield angles must remain stock.

C. All glass, except windshield, must be removed. Windshield must have four (4), three inch tabs (two on the top, two on the bottom) and two inner center braces. Windshield may be replaced with plexiglass or lexan. Must be a full windshield.

D. Doors MUST be welded or securely fastened front and back. Door skins may be fabricated but MUST be made of steel only and maintain factory body lines.

E. Body molding, including door handles, MUST be removed. Hood scoops or air box's NOT allowed. Hood MUST be flush to windshield. NO OPENINGS.

F. Interior of the car MUST be completely stripped. Drivers MUST sit in stock position, floors MUST be stock front to rear with the EXCEPTION of holes for roll bars. Trunk floors may be cut to accommodate the fuel cell. Pedals may be moved 76 inches from center of spindle to the bottom of seat.

G. Front firewall must be original with all holes covered with no less than 20 gauge steel and must remain in original position and location. Rear firewall must be completely closed off from the trunk compartment with 18 gauge steel which must be riveted or welded. Metal screws or aluminum NOT allowed. Rear of hood and windshield cowl area must be sealed off from engine compartments.

H. Frames MUST be completely stock (steel) front to rear. Rear may be reinforced but remain stock rail. May be crossed. TIOGA OFFICIALS may allow repairs to the rear frame rail using 2"x3"x.120 wall tubing from center line of rear axles back only. A frames run stock (can be modified). EX. cut A-frame or move upper mounts. MUST BE APPROVED.

I. Front inner fender panels MAY be removed.

J. Stock front and rear bumpers must be in original location. Aftermarket stock appearing bumper cover and front nose may be used. Bracing outside of the bumpers NOT allowed.

K. Only one external 1 inch nerf bars allowed with no sharp edges. Skin tight to the body. Located between front and rear wheels and parallel to the ground.

L. Radios NOT allowed!

M. Mirrors NOT allowed!

N. All cars must be neatly painted and professionally lettered. Numbers from 00 to 99, two digits only, no letters'. Number must be registered with TIOGA OFFICIALS.

NOTE: Fenders, doors and quarter panels can be fabricated, steel only. Plastic nose and tail allowed


2. ENGINES

Maximum engine displacement as follows:

(1) GENERAL MOTORS 350 CUBIC INCHES
(2) FORD 351 CUBIC INCHES
(3) MOPAR, AMERICAN MOTORS 360 CUBIC INCHES

A. Maximum compression ratio 10.0 - 1

B. Stock, an unaltered engine, must match make and model of the car used, must be within the chassis as a factory item, including all engine accessories except air filters, pulleys, valve covers and oil pan.

C. All engines must be standard production heads and blocks and have stock external and internal measurements, except for maximum 0.060 overbore.

D. V-8 ENGINES ONLY. NO aluminum engine part blocks, head, intake, etc.

ENGINE PARTS

A. CRANKSHAFT: STOCK STROKE CRANKSHAFT WILL BE +/- .010" FROM FACTORY LISTED STROKE. Only stock production type crankshafts may be used. Standard steel or cast iron. Aftermarket crankshafts must be identical to stock OEM in appearance, construction, weight and journel size. Counterweights must be the same shape and size of a stock OEM crankshaft. Counterweights may NOT be knife-edged, under cut or altered in anyway. Normal balancing only. Minimum crankshaft weight is 48.0 pounds. NO painting, coating or plating of any kind. Chevrolet must use (LARGE) journal size crankshaft.

B. CONNECTING RODS: Only stock production O.E.M. connecting rods. STOCK LENGTH RODS ONLY.


C. PISTONS: Flat top or dish pistons only. NO dome pistons, NO portion of the piston may protrude above the block surface. Valve reliefs may be cut in pistons. Minimum weight of one piston and one piston pin 550 grams. NO light weight pistons.

D. HEADS: (Valve work) Stock production OEM cast iron heads only. Heads must have stock internal and external measurements. NO Boss Ford, Chrysler Hemi or Pontiac Ram Air Heads allowed. Studs may be pinned. Screw in studs with guide plates ALLOWED. Stock stud diameter size only. Stock diameter valve spring size only. Steel valve spring retainers only. Steel valves only.Valve stem diameter may be undercut to a minimum diameter of
5/16 inch in the area of the valve stem from the head of the valve to the bottom of the valve guide.

E. Multiple angle valve jobs are permitted. All cutting with reference to the valve job must be centered off the centerline of the valve guide. Bowl cuttingwill be a maximum of (1) inch from bottom of seat face contact angle. Surfaces and/or edges where the seat cutter has touched must not be blended or polished. NO hand grinding, polishing or acid dipping permitted on any part of the heads. NO exterior or interior coatings, epoxy or welding on head.

F. The following heads are NOT allowed:
NO aluminum heads. NO after market heads. G.M. NO angle plug heads. NO casting #10239906 / 12558062, NO vortech

G. Maximum valve size Intake 2.020 Exhaust 1.600

NOTE: Because of the difficulty in determining if any of this process has been done, heavy fines and loss of driver and owner points will result at the discretion of TIOGA OFFICIALS.

H. CAMSHAFT: Hydraulic camshafts must be used. Stock diameter hydraulic lifters only. Maximum lift is 0.500 intake and 0.500 exhaust. Checked at the valve. NO roller hydraulic cams or lifters, NO solid tappers allowed. NO mushroomtappets, lifters MUST be stock diameter.

I. TIMING CHAIN: Any timing chain and gears may be used. Degree bushings and offset crank gear keys may be used. Gear drive or belt drive types NOT ALLOWED.

J. OIL PANS: STEEL ONLY. A stock oil pan may be used. Pans may be aftermarket 7 to 8 qts. with a filter. Larger rear sump area only, NO side kick out pans.

K. INSPECTION PLUG: Is required on the left side of the oil pan. The inspection hole must be a minimum of 1 1/4 inch in diameter. It must be 9 1/2 inches from the rear block face to the center line of the inspection hole or 4 1/2 inches from the front block face to the center line of inspection hole and 1 1/4 inches from oil pan rail. There will not be any obstruction of view from the inspection hole to view crank and rods.

L. VIBRATION DAMPER: MUST be stock O.E.M. steel or cast iron only.

M. ROCKER ARMS: O.E.M. rocker arms and push rods. Or stock replacement. Stock or Aluminum roller rockers allowed.

N. WATER PUMPS: Stock OEM or stock replacement. aftermarket aluminum water pumps allowed, double clamp on hoses strongly suggested. Stock, steel bladed fans or electric fans.

O. RADIATOR: Radiators must be copper, brass and aluminum stock type. NO ANTIFREEZE. WATER ONLY!!!! Radiators must have a minimum one gallon over flow can.

P. MOUNTING OF ENGINES: Steel or rubber mounts acceptable. Rubber mounted engines must be chained down for safety. Engines must be in stock location with a minimum crankshaft centerline height of (15) fifteen inches to the ground.

NOTE: No cross breeding or interchanging of engine parts. All components must have been available on a two barrel, small block engines from the factory. NO special order components.

Q. IGNITION: Only stock O.E.M. ignition allowed. NO dual points allowed. When using OEM high energy ignition (H.E.I.) system, stock internal type coil must be retained and must be in original position. NO external coil allowed on H.E.I. systems. NO magneto, ignition boxes and M.S.D. allowed. Advance kits and springs may be changed.


R. STARTER: Cars MUST have self working starter.

S. BATTERY: Only one 12-volt battery. Battery MUST be in a spill proof container completely sealed from driver. Battery may be mounted on right side floor of car inside frame rail in a steel box made of no less than 20 gauge steel, completely covered, sealed and bolted down.
MUST BE APPROVED BY TIOGA OFFICIALS.

3. CARBURETOR

A. Holley #4412 cfm only

B. Choke horn may NOT be removed. Boosters may NOT be changed. Booster size or shape must NOT be altered. Booster height MUST remain standard.

C. Venturi area must NOT be altered. Casting ring must NOT be removed. NO grinding or polishing. NO modifications to the base plate.

D. Throttle shafts MUST remain standard and must NOT be thinned or tapered.

THE MODIFICATION ALLOWED.

E. Removal of the choke plate and choke linkage, changing of jets, accelerator pump nozzle pump cams, and power valves PERMITTED.
Modifications to main air bleed, idle bleed, power valve channel, main passage to discharge nozzle PERMITTED.

F. CARBURETOR ADAPTOR PLATE only one solid spacer made of aluminum or phenolicplastic of a maximum height of 1" permitted. Only one .075" max. gasket per side

G. CARBURETOR THROTTLE: All linkage must be mechanical type. No cable types. Two springs mandatory. Toe strap mandatory.

4. AIR CLEANERS AND AIR FILTERS

KNN or round dry paper air cleaner elements of a minimum12" A maximum 14" diamerer will be permitted. Maximum of 4" in height. All air must be filtered through the element. Top of the air cleaner must be solid with no holes. Metal top and bottom of the air cleaner must be of the same diameter. No air induction, ducts, baffles, tubes or funnels which may control the air leading to inside of, or between the air filters and carburetor. The air filter base must have a minimum round opening of 5 inches. Plastic air cleaners are ALLOWED.

5. INTAKE MANIFOLD

Stock production O.E.M. passenger car cast iron two(2) barrel intake manifolds only. Truck or marine manifolds NOT allowed. Alterations or modifications to manifolds NOT allowed. NO coatings allowed on or in manifold with the exception of paint only on exterior surfaces. Identification in the form of cast-in part numbers MUST remain unaltered on the manifold.

6. EXHAUST SYSTEM

A. HEADERS (conventional street type 4 into 1 collector) 1 5/8 primary 1 3/4 max. may be 1 5/8" to 1 3/4" step. Collector maximum size 3.0 inches OD. NO 180 degree, or crossover headers. NO coating of any type in headers.

B. Stock production O.E.M. passenger car cast iron exhaust manifolds allowed. NO altering of manifolds, NO grinding, NO acid dipping or enlarging allowed.
2 1/2 maximum OEM center dump manifolds ALLOWED.

C. Pipes must exit behind the rear edge of the doors, ahead of the rear tires and to the outside edges of the doors. Only one pipe per side of car. Maximum pipe size 3". NO 2 into 1 system.

D. MUFFLERS MANDATORY dyno-max part # 24222. NO MODIFICATIONS OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED ON THE MUFFLER. MUST BE REMOVABLE FOR INSPECTION. This is for exhaust noise suppression.

7. TRANSMISSION (Automatic transmission only)

A. Only stock production, 2 speed or 3 speed automatic transmissions are allowed. High performance of special order transmission is NOT allowed. Modifying of transmission is NOT allowed. All gears MUST be in working order.

B. All cars must have stock unaltered v-8 torque converter. Torque converters must be in working order. Vega or similar small torque converters NOT allowed. Stock stall speed between 1500-2400 RPM. WILL BE CHECKED.

C. Stock weight and diameter steel flex plates.

D. Transmission coolers allowed. Steel line double clamped. NOT in drivers compartment.

8. DRIVE SHAFT

A. Steel drive shaft only. Drive shaft and universals Must be similar to OEM production type.

B. Drive shaft MUST be painted white or orange. MUST have two (2) steel safety hoops minimum 1/4 inch by 2 inch located within twelve (12) inches from each end.

9. REAR END

A. Only O.E.M. type rear ends allowed. O.E.M. carrier only.

B. NO ratchet or after market carriers.


10. WHEELS AND TIRES
Maximum width 76" measured outside to outside of tire

A. ALL four wheels must be heavy duty after market. Stock wheels NOT allowed.

B. One piece steel wheels MUST be used and have a maximum width of eight inches.

C. Offset must be the same on all four wheels.

D. All four wheels MUST have a minimum of five lug nuts.

E. Lug stud threads must go through the full thickness of the wheel nut on all four wheels.

F. 1 inch lug nuts MANDATORY on all four wheels.

G. 1/2 inch wheel studs MANDATORY.

H. All wheels MUST be the same diameter ( either fourteen or fifteen inch).

I. Wheel spacers are NOT allowed.

J. Only track designated and marked tires permitted.

K. Tire durometer readings will be checked.

L. A tire minimum softness may be declared at the beginning of a race event.

M. NO use of bleed-off or pop-off type valves.


N. Hand grooving, buffing, grinding and/or cutting on any area of the racing tire will NOT be permitted.

O. Tires that have been altered by unauthorized treatment will NOT be permitted.

P. NO race team will leave any tires on TIOGA MOTORSPORTS property after a race event. Any participant violating this rule will be subject to a fine, loss of points and suspension.

11. CAR WEIGHT

A. Car must weigh a minimum of 3150 pounds with driver at all times.

B. NO allowances for gas. Cars can be weighed before and after race.

C. TRACK SCALE WILL BE FINAL!!!

D. Ballast Weight:
If ballast weight is needed to make total weight, it must be securely fastened to the inside of frame rails, be painted white and car number painted on weight. NO steel or lead pellets.

E. NO weight is to be mounted below the frame rails.

F. NO weight mounted in Driver's compartment.

G. Maximum 54% left side weight allowed.


12. SUSPENSION ( shocks, springs, sway/anti-roll bars)

A. All parts must be stock for make and model, NO heavy duty or limited production.

B. Racing springs may be used. However, they must mount in original spring mounting bracket position and location. Only four springs allowed per car and must be stock in appearance. Coil springs may be cut. Adjustable spring pocket is allowed. NO jacking bolts

C. NO adjustable shocks. NO aluminum shocks. NO air shocks or coil over. One shock per wheel. Front MUST be in stock mounting holes. Rear MUST be in stock location but may be steel rod end style.

D. Left and right upper front control arms may be switched but MUST remain stock. Reinforcement of front upper control arms allowed.

E. All suspension components must be in original position.

F. NO offset bushings.

G. Front sway bar must be standard factory production type. Standard size.
In factory location. Sway bar link must be standard O.E.M. type. Rear sway bar is NOT allowed.

H. Trailing arms may not be cut, heated and bent or modified in any way. Trailing arms must be stock for year make and model.

I. All suspension mounting points must be unaltered.

J. A minimum of 6 inch frame ground clearance will be measured at the frame rail behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel.


13. BRAKES

A. Stock O.E.M. hydraulic brakes are MANDATORY on all four wheels and must be in 100% working order. NO heavy duty or limited production parts.

B. NO adjusting devices.
C. MUST have a dual master cylinder. After market dual master cylinders may be used.

D. Cast iron O.E..M. disc brake components may be used only. Rear disc brakes may be installed if the particular manufacturer had used them in production and providing the rotors and calipers are stock O.E.M. parts.

E. NO drilling or lighting of the rotors, calipers, drum or backing plates.

F. Right front only. After market right front rotor may be used. (OPTIONAL)

14. ROLL CAGE

A. Roll cage MUST be constructed from seamless round steel tubing. Minimum 1 1/2" outside diameter with a minimum wall thickness of .120" or 1 3/4" outside diameter with .090" minimum wall thickness.

B. Cars must have a complete, full roll cage around the driver that must be welded to the frame. There must be a minimum of three horizontal and three vertical bars within any remaining doors. All welds must have gussets. Only complete welds all the way around tubing WILL be accepted. Offset cages NOT allowed. All roll cage bars within 18" of the drivers body, extended arms, legs, head, ETC. Must be properly padded with approved roll bar padding. Threaded pipe, pipe fittings, aluminum angle iron or channel iron will NOT be allowed.


15. STEERING COLUMN

A. Steering column must remain in stock location. Stock column may be removed and a steel shaft may be used it must be supported by heim joints, securely installed.

B. Quick release steering wheel hubs, made of steel, MUST be used. They must be WELDED to the steering shaft.

C. MUST use after market racing type steering wheel.

D. The steering wheel center must be padded.

E. Power steering, aftermarket, stock location.

16. SAFETY

SEATS AND SHOULDER HARNESS

A. All seats must be aluminum and have head rests or high back seat. The seat MUST be attached to roll cage and frame. Back of the seat must be mounted to the roll cage. NO fiberglass or plastic seats.

B. Driver must use a minimum three inch quick release, 5 point restraint system. A two inch wide crotch strap is MANDATORY. All safety belts must be no more than five years old and have readable identification tag. NO original equipment belts permitted.

C. Shoulder Harness must be connected to the roll cage. All lap belts must be mounted behind the seat and attached to the roll cage according to manufacturer specifications.

D. All roll bars and driver side bars or other protrusions that drivers may come in contact with must be properly padded with approved race car roll bar padding.

E. All cars must have a working fire extinguisher in easy reach of the driver.

F. Driver side net with a quick release mechanism is MANDATORY. NO plastic parts permitted.

G. Boldly labeled fuel and electrical safety switches are to be in reach of Driver and safety crews.

17. FUEL CELL

A. A maximum 22 U.S. gallon fuel cell with foam inserts is MANDATORY.

B. A steel container must full encase the fuel cell made of a minimum thickness of 20 gauge steel.

C. The fuel cell must be rectangular or square in shape only. Fuel cell must be mounted in the center of the trunk. NO offset permitted. Bottom of the cell must not be lower than the centerline of the rear axle.

D. A 1" diameter .095 wall tubing x brace required. Fuel cell must be securely fastened. Strapped and bolted. Fuel cell vent must exit the car at rear left corner of the trunk.

18. FUEL PUMP

Fuel pump must be stock O.E.M. type. NO electric pumps.

19. FUEL

Gasoline only permitted. Racing fuel available at track. NO additives.

EVERY COMPETITOR MUST MAKE THEMSELVES AWARE OF AND FAMILIAR WITH THE TECHNICAL RULES IN THIS CLASS. EVERY INDIVIDUAL AGREES TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND BOUND BY THE CONTENTS OF THE 2003 TIOGA MOTORSPORTS PARK RULE BOOK.
